Snow White is even worse than we feared. They forgot about the fans, it’s old traditional men who go to the cinema alone on a Thursday midnight preview which makes these movies rich. They stripped away so much of the movie like using CGI little people instead of actors with dwarfism removing all sex appeal and taking away their American jobs. It’s all very woke cake madness like removing the scenes where an adult is making out with 14 year old corpse! I’m joining in the boycott of this movie by not eating apples anymore!
Rammstein’s remake of Snow White still remains the truest to what Walt Disney wanted when creating the completely original idea of Snow White.
@N00BiSH I guess you're right.😆 I'm still not used to thinking of disney making these lower tier movies even if they've been doing it most or all of my life.
@WoomyNNYes What perplexes me more is how there are actually people who get excited about stuff like this. I saw some people looking forward to that Lilo & Stitch remake and I'm here like... Why? It's like having a really good sandwich that you fondly remember so you decide to get a worse version of that sandwich because you liked the good version.
"Now I have an obligation to tag along and clear the area if Luigi so much as glances at a stiletto."
@N00BiSH
I personally fine with live action remake as long the director and story script writer can make better story development and the scenes chronological.
I watched Snow White 2025 this afternoon and.... It was disappointing 😟
Opening night audiences gave it the worst CinemaScore for a Disney live-action remake or adaptation since 2010's The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
So, this wasn't just a case of a poor marketing plan to get people to show up. Essentially, it is the worst of the lot.
(CinemaScore does scientific multi-city polling of real people, who bought real tickets, sitting in real theatres. Studios have said they match their own test-screen polling).
@MontyCircus
Blame to Greta Gerwig for ruining the Snow White 2025 with big boss agenda for princess Snow White, the 7 magical creatures that changed into 7 CGI dwarves, not so romantic relationship between Snow White and Jonathan, rushed Evil Queen transformation and not so right words to convince Snow White to eat the poisonous apple.
@Anti-Matter I haven't seen it and don't care about Disney's live-action remakes but I'm not sure why you're blaming Greta Gerwig - according to Wikipedia she may have contributed to the script, but she's not the credited writer or director.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Dogorilla
Oh, gosh...
Two times I have ever watched two movies with Greta Gerwig inside (script writer I guess) : Barbie 2023 and Snow White 2025.
Two of them was rated PG13+ here in my country Indonesia.
Both of them are bad movies after I watched them one time.
Both of them have same issues: unnecessary political issues, terrible storyline flow, bad acting, bad additional & changed stuffs.
If I gave the score for Snow White 2025 = 5/10, I gave 0/10 for Barbie 2023.
If you read my spoiler alert comment on previous page, Snow White 2025 had a lot of issues that I felt pity to watch the masterpiece from cartoon version suddenly became bad because of poor choice of changes / additional stuffs and the direction to make storyline flow looked interesting.
@Anti-Matter Sure, I get you didn't like Barbie, but it seems like Greta Gerwig's input on Snow White was pretty minimal so it's not exactly her fault this time. Especially the bad acting.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Anti-Matter there were a lot of things going against the Snow White remake(if the list of controversies on Wikipedia is anything to go by) but Greta Gerwig's minimal involvement probably wasn't one of them.
@N00BiSH Nobody taking pre-orders yet in the UK as far as I can see, but oddly it appears the Italian Blu-Ray already released a few weeks ago. Might pick it up from Amazon.it as it's listed as having an English language track in addition to the Italian.
Very poetic to see a quality 2D animated underdog succeed while the gassed up remake that spits in the face of its foundation bombs hard. I hope it manages to break even.
@N00BiSH The numbers could be better, but for the minimal marketing it had, that's pretty good. If I get the chance I'll definitely go see it, but unfortunately it's quite the drive to get to a good theatre from where I'm at.
Along the same lines as Looney Tunes, there are other great movies out in theaters right now that aren't however doing so hot:
Novocaine is a super fun action movie that has a really fun premise and some great performances. Definitely solid and worth watching if it sounds like your thing.
Black Bag is a really neat spy-thriller sort of thing, which while it wasn't my thing, it has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, so clearly it's something many others loved. It barely got any marketing so not many people have seen it, but it's definitely solid if it's a genre you like.
Mickey 17 is a really fascinating movie from a director who clearly had a strong vision of what he wanted. It's a very smart movie, and one that gives you a lot to think about. Also has some stellar performances (especially Robert Pattinson.) Unfortunately, it is doing awful at the box office and is set to lose well over 100 million, even though it is not a bad movie.
So basically, if you want a movie to watch this week, please don't go see Snow White because "There's nothing else to see." All three of the ones I mentioned (plus Looney Tunes I'm sure) are great movies that are worth watching, and many of them could end up flopping. Which would be a shame, because that would give further evidence to Hollywood that making original movies is bad and unprofitable. So yeah, if you like good movies, please support the ones that are out right now. I promise you won't regret it.
