Saw TRAP today. M Night is somewhat hit or miss for me. This one I really enjoyed. It is sort of ridiclious with plot holes, but it kept me glued for the 100 min run time. Fantastic ride, maybe does not quite stick the landing by comparison, but I liked it a lot.
Somehow, I've never actually seen ET...maybe one day.
I recommend making sure you watch the original version, not the updated & censored messed up "special edition" re-release a la George Lucas & Star Wars.
Spielberg later admitted that screwing with his masterpiece was "a mistake".
@MontyCircus How easy is it to watch the original ET? Is it like Star Wars where they've basically replaced it with the new version so the only way to watch is some old now-obscure DVD version or something? Do any streaming or download services show the original?
My family watched Holiday Inn on Sunday... it is finally time to start on Christmas flicks!
We do a big December Christmas movie marathon every year. Not sure I've ever seen Holiday Inn. Bing Crosby eh? We do White Christmas though.
We saw The Holdovers (Paul Giamatti, et.al.) last year. On exiting the theatre we all said: "We should add this to our annual rotation!" Recommended!
I will add that to my family's list! Our usual lineup consists of
Holiday Inn
White Christmas
Home Alone 1 and 2
Elf
It's a Wonderful Life
The Polar Express
I feel like I am missing a few, but you get the idea. Considering I am almost 20 and y youngest sibling is not even 1 yet, there is a broad range of movies on the list lol!
Burnt Offerings (1976) starring Oliver Reed. Great slow burn, (no pun intended), haunted house flick, with some genuinely creepy scenes. Has one shocker of an ending.
One Dark Night (1983). Had never heard of this one, I was surprised at how good it was, it holds a lot back until the final act, which pays off in fairly epic fashion. Stars Adam West in a minor roll and Dotty from Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
Watched Halloween is Grinch Night yesterday. This particular one doesn't get much attention nor does The Grinch Grinches The Cat in The Hat. And honestly I prefer those two over The Grinch Stole Christmas.
Gonna watch X the Unknown.
I sell my famous Chesapeake Tupperware.
I ACCEPT NO DEBIT CARDS!
DO YOU HEAR ME!?!

The last time I saw it was 2022 in theatres to celebrate its 40th anniversary (it was the original!). I'm in Canada, and don't know where you are, but I googled and the original is apparently on Peacock?
Like I said, Spielberg later admitted messing with it for the "Special Edition". Wikipedia says that bastardized version, with a CGI E.T. instead of practical puppets, is "currently out of circulation". Thank goodness!

We watch loads. But if I had to narrow it down to our absolute must-watches each year:
It's a Wonderful Life (every New Year's Eve. Blasphemy to many, but the colourized version is also wonderful, with some eye-poppingly beautiful costumes)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (we had a very Clark Griswold dad desperate to make every Christmas perfect for the family)
A Christmas Story (the absolute best example of nostalgia for being a kid ever filmed)

Looks like it's available on Sky/Now here in the UK, so might get around to watching it at some point. No mention of it being the Special Edition or anything, so should be the original if Wikipedia is right about it being out of circulation. I wouldn't put it past Sky to show the 'improved' version though.

We always watch the BnW version, then the colorized version, of It's a Wonderful life haha!

A fellow person of culture I see!
People hate (really, really hate) the "idea" of watching a colourized "It's a Wonderful Life".
But if they just shut up and watch it...it's really nice.
I think when people hear "colourized black and white movie", they remember those old, garish "I Love Lucy", which were truly awful. It's a "Green Eggs and Ham" situation.
As we are talking Christmas films:
Found out that the Prince Charles Theatre just off Leicester Square is doing Sing along Muppets Christmas Carol in December. Well as it's one of my favourite Christmas films, and we are in London at the time so definitely going to see that.
