That is indeed true but knowing the intellectual thinkers involved in the writing of the series 'Clone Wars' I'm sure that some sort of logical theory has been put into play. I think that Darth Maul is a lot stronger in the ways of the Force than the Jedi or the Sith know. Perhaps he used the Force to stop his fall and then used the power of the Dark Side to sustain himself and his body has been reconnected by the same sort of technology that was used to craft Darth Vader's life supporting suit as we must remember that most of Anakin's body was burned and cut away by his duel with his former master.

@Adam, I really would like to read The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy as I've seen most of the Disney movie but not all of it. I also started reading 2001 A Space Odyssey but I have not yet finished it. I'm planning to read as many of the John Carter of Mars comics as I can and I am also beginning to read some of the Tron and Star Trek comics. I've read both the Star Wars books and comics. I would love to get a book club going in my area but not many people here are into read books no matter if they are text or comics. It's hard to find young people here who appreciate books sadly.

That's the idea. They are making us crazy with possible explanations for that mystery.

I've been out of the Star Wars loop lately and I was wondering if anyone knows if the Darth Maul episode of Star Wars The Clone Wars has aired already or is it going to air after The Phantom Menace 3D premiers in theaters? Darth Maul is one of the greatest cosmic villains of all time and I don't want to miss this major bombshell. I thought he was dead but apparently Darth Maul Lives!

@Swiket, @pikmaniac, I'm so tired of all the immature Star Wars prequel hate.

I enjoyed the Star Wars prequels. The battle between Obi Wan Kenobi, Qui Gonn Jinn and Darth Maul accompanied by the most glorious musical score ever Duel of the Fates is unlike anything else that I have yet to behold in Sci-Fi cinema history. It is because of the Star Wars prequels that I took a serious interest in Politics, Christian Philosophy, Theology, Physics, Science, Math and many other things.

My abiding memory of seeing Star Wars The Phantom Menace as a child and the awe and wonder which filled my soul shall never fade. The Phantom Menace was my first introduction to the Star Wars franchise and as I had only read the Star Wars Classic Trilogy by Little Golden Books before 1999 arrived. It it hadn't been for the Star Wars prequels I wouldn't have taken an interest in PBS Nova, Brian Green's String Theory series, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and Irwin Allen's Lost in Space. Star Wars expanded my horizon and I'm continuing to grow and explore to this very day.

The worst thing about The Phantom Menace isn't in the film itself nor is it Jar Jar Brinks even if that character is a blemish. The worst thing is that it is now nigh impossible to have a civilized conversation about Star Wars on the internet because of biased people who don't respect the tastes or choices of others. I find that sad. We are individuals. If you prefer the Star Wars Classic Trilogy over the Prequel Trilogy then that is your preference. I respect your preference and you should respect mine. When will we learn to live in harmony embracing our God given diversity?

To all the haters; these are Lucas's films. George Lucas makes the decisions because these are his films. The original trilogy was marvelous, the prequels are enjoyable. The original trilogy die hards are just upset that the prequels arent exactly like the originals and why should they be? Change is good.

It's kinda funny, you make a large post about saying how you hate when people say the first trilogy is bad. Then you say this.

Hey now, I never said that I hate when people say the first trilogy is bad. I just said that I was tired of immature behavior. We need to be able to have a sensible discussion about Star Wars without a troll coming along starting a flame war on why exhibit A is better than exhibit B. Star Wars is all about good SciFi fun. Let's just enjoy Star Wars for what it is. There is room enough for everyone in that Galaxy, Far Far Away.

I've come to appreciate Phantom Menace more and more over the years (though i never really hated it in the first place). I can pretty much tune out any of the crappy aspects and just revel in the awesomeness that is Qui-Gon Jinn. Such an awesome character — made a shpybillion times more so by the fact that Liam Neeson is himself awesome — that i wish he had stuck around after the first film (even though it made narrative sense to kill him off).

There's some great EU stuff featuring him (particularly the YA series "Jedi Apprentice", which is focused on the Master-Padawan relationship with young Obi-Wan), which really adds to some of the scenes in Phantom Menace (most particularly his semi-distracted line of "I wish that were so" when Anakin says no one can kill a Jedi takes on a new resonance after the events of the later Jedi Apprentice books).

Anyone read or heard of the book Star Wars: Darth Plagueis? It came out last month, I picked it up recently and am almost done with it. Remember when Palpatine tells Anakin the story of Darth Plagueis the Wise in Revenge of the Sith? It's about him and the events preceding the prequel trilogy, it is a must read for hardcore star wars fans, at least the ones who enjoy the books.

I own pretty much every EU book out there, so i have boxes upon boxes filled with SW books. I picked up the Plagueis book, but haven't started it yet, as i'm currently finishing up the Old Republic: Revan novel. Plagueis is probably my next SW read, though.

How is the Revan novel? I haven't read it, and looking at the user reviews on Amazon a lot of people seem to have been unsatisfied with it.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through Revan right now, and i think it's good. I guess people are unhappy that Revan isn't the sole focus of the book, and that there's very little involving the other characters from KotOR (or for most of them, nothing — only Canderous, Bastila and T3 actually appear; some of the others are only referred to), and that its status as a tie-in novel (to the MMO) makes it have a lot of set-up and such rather than fully fleshed-out story threads. But i'm enjoying it, if only for the fact that the Jedi Exile (from KotOR II) is in the second half of the book.

Not one of the best EU novels, but an enjoyable read if you're interested in the Old Republic era. People are disliking it mainly not for what the book is, but for what it's not — a lot of people wanted a full-on Revan-focused novel, and that's not what it is. It's a fair complaint for people to have, but taken on its own it's good.

@the_shpydar: Thanks for the reply. I'll probably end up reading the Revan novel eventually seeing as I loved the KotOR games. I only really starting getting into the EU novels about last summer. I read a lot of the clone wars ones and the only one that I thought was really amazing was Shatterpoint, but they were all good reads in one way or another. Now I'm in the middle of the X-Wing series, on Iron Fist, which I believe is the 6th book.

Finished Revan today, and i do understand more why people are annoyed with it. I'm not personally, but i think a lot of people are turned off by the fact that it is so clearly a "tie-in" novel for the MMO — there's a bunch of things that are set up that i know are addressed story-wise in the game.

Shatterpoint was an awesome book. Matt Stover writes some great — albeit dark — EU stuff, though he's only written 3 so far: Shatterpoint, Traitor (part of the New Jedi Order series) and the novelization of Revenge of the Sith. I'd actually highly reccomend the Revenge of the Sith novelization, as it expands a lot on the movie (and in fact even just quickly glosses over many scenes from the movie, so it's almost more of a supplement to the movie, rather than just a straight adaptation).

And the X-Wing series is also great. That's the one series of books i haven't read all of yet, but they are quite good, especially the earlier novels focusing on Rogue Squadron.

I saw Phantom Menace in 3D yesterday. Even though it is my least favorite of the movies, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing it on a big screen and in 3D. There was some really cool uses of 3D in it, one of my favorites being when Darth Maul uses his binoculars on Tatooine. Also, I think they touched up Nute Gunray, and I believe there were a few other changes in there, although I'd have to compare to be sure. There was one large change however, and this may be a spoiler, so...

The Yoda puppet has been swapped with the digital Yoda of the latter two prequels. I was honestly surprised to see it, but I'm fine with it. I always thought the puppet in episode 1 sucked compared to the puppet in the original trilogy.
