Did you just ask if Ninty knows what they are doing?

Reasons why Mario will live forever: 1. He is Nintendo's mascot, if he goes Nin. goes. 2. Awesome games 3. Wide variety of games 4. His games are almost always good, except very few 5. His old games are just as popular today 6. Luigi is his bro, and he will NEVER die 7. Even if older gamers give up on him, little kids won't 8. He is extremelly popular 9. Have you seen one person who hates mario? 10. Red 11. Even if he "dies" he will live forever in vc.

Mario...doubtful. At worst there will be too many dissappointing titles that are mostly still good like during the GCN era. Megaman's basically dead, at least for a while.
1. Poor reception of the ZX series 2. Terrible reception of the Starforce series (I liked it, others didn't) 3. Megaman not appearing Marvel VS Capcom 3 4. Zero claiming "X isn't here" 5. The cancellation of Universe and Legends 3 6. The discontinuation of ZX
Aaaaaaaannnnnnnddd........... The worst............
They sent Keiji Inafune away on a "break" and won't let him back in.
Doooomed Mario is nothing to worry about. Sonic didn't really have a downfall, his games were good, he just had a little doozy phase (Sorta, Sonic Rush was both popular and fun) The true downfall/redemption story is Rayman.
Mario and Mega Man are on two different paths. Mario's path allows for expansion by successfully growing from what made it's formula great in the first place into something better. Mega Man's path concedes that it's only chance of success is within what it always had been and to deviate too much would be disastrous.
Another factor: Mario is Nintendo's bread and butter, so they'll actually care to keep him relevant. Mega Man, on the other hand, is only one cog in Capcom's stable and he hasn't been financially viable in Capcom's big picture.
Sonic, while being important to Sega, has had poor game designers who don't realize that the core mechanics of Sonic that made him great in the 16-bit days may have ONLY worked in games like that and think that he can keep up with Mario when, really, he should be trying to keep up with Mega Man.
you should know better, mario is not going down easy with its success if it makes a bad game(which probaubly wont happen) that mistake wont happen again but mega man is another story
Well, sure, in the same way that everything on Earth inevitably decomposes and becomes forgotten. But I don't think anyone really sees Mario going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
And Capcom will eventually bring Mega Man back. Even if it takes longer than anyone would like.
