Go play Sonic Generations on PS3 or Xbox 360. It's amazing. Genesis-era Classic Sonic meets Sonic Unleashed/Colors-era Modern Sonic.

I don't think it's bad to be a fan of something at all, but to love something blindly and think that it has no flaws and can do no wrong in the face of competition isn't so great.

Also, I think its easy for a lot of people to be fanboy-ish of Nintendo because of their nostalgia of growing up with them and the fact that many Xbox and PS fans take bashing them to really ugly, extreme and often times immature levels on forums and messageboards.

People say other fans bash nintendo. With the expecton of a few most of the "bashing" i see are reasonable complaints about nintendo and their games.
The Most Nintendo Bashing i've seen was last year about the 3Ds. I couldn't walk into a nintendo topic about the 3DS on neogaf without getting some type of doomed, or anger about MH4.
but that seems to have transfered to the vita now.

I'm not a big fan at all of Sonic, but Generations for the PS3/XBOX 360 'graphically' looks pretty damn amazing. The scope, attention to detail and pure mass of the backdrops is incredibly beautiful and immersive by the looks of it. Is there a demo for download on the PS3? It will most likely be the last PS3 title I play around with before i sell the thing and get a bluray player instead.

Yes there is a demo, it lets you play as both Classic and Modern Sonics in Green Hill Zone. Also, I highly suggest you try out Sonic Colors for the Wii.
It's great to be a fan, but yes, I would say it is bad to be a fanboy. Being a fanboy is a really unhealthy mentality to have and it's a shame that so many gamers get sucked into it. Thankfully they're only a (very) vocal minority, but still, fanboys are one of the worst aspects of the video games industry. They are absolutely insufferable. It's like dealing with militant religious extremists, I wish they would get a grip. They're obnoxious and smug when "their" company is winning the console wars and they're whiny and jealous with a massive persecution complex when "their" company is losing the console wars.
Fanboys are toadying sycophants who have no real opinions, they just tow the company line whatever it may be at the time, even if they completely contradict themselves. For example, when a console is about graphics (N64, 3DS) then "graphics are incredibly important!", yet when it isn't about graphics (Wii) then "graphics mean nothing and anyone who thinks overwise is a shallow graphics whore!" When a console doesn't sell well (GC) then "the casual masses are idiots who know nothing about real games and it's review scores that matter!", but when a console does sell well (Wii) then "casual gamers are where it's at, their tastes are way more important than yours you hardcore elitist snob!"
Fanboys are a constant embarrassment for normal fans.

I'm of the opinion that one can have fanboy-ish feelings about something without acting upon them, thereby not being an annoying jerk about it. Fanboy-ism is a dark side you can choose whether or not to give into, I suppose.
Okay, listen. You don't owe any allegience to any company. They make the products for YOU to enjoy, and nothing more. And if you find multiple companies' products entertaining, then purchase and enjoy them to your hearts content. It would not be wise to limit oneself to just a fixed medium of entertainment because of one really great experience. It's fine to like a company, in face I'm rather fond of Nintendo myself (granted I'm on a Nintendo-only site), but that doesn't hinder me from playing games on my Playstation 3; I can play whatever I desire. It's like saying you like trains, and therefore you won't drive a car: totally unrealistic and biased.
