I game at night after the kids and wife go to bed. Kids (1 and 2.5 yr old) go to bed by 830pm. My wife goes to bed around 930-10pm on weekdays, and 11-1130pm on weekends. I stay up and play until about 11 on weekdays, and until 2-3am on weekends.

Make time for it. When I was working, I usually gamed a little on my 3DS between dinner and going to sleep, while my family was watching TV so I could be with them, and left the Wii U for the weekends or holidays.

The Switch is a godsend in that aspect - I don't have to wait until the weekend to play the bigger games, I can play them while sitting on my sofa.

Though, yeah, in that time my backlog grew a lot so I now took the determination that I'm going to go through it before buying more games since I'm a bit strapped for cash.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

@CanisWolfred No joke. Being out of work for 6 months while go through chemo has been driving me crazy. I'm more than ready to go back just to have something else to do with me day then set at home.

@SonOfVon I wonder about this as well sometimes.
Last year I often didn't find the time or the energy to play games, although I almost desperately wanted to. I work 5 days a week and I'm single, but (especially the last six or seven months) there always were other stressful and time-time-consuming things to take care of as well.

It really took a lot out of me and since gaming is no fun when you're constantly sleep-deprived (I've had trouble sleeping my whole life + my work schedule collides with my natural bio-rhythm), I played less and less, especially in the last few months of 2017.
At some point I noticed that I genuinely missed it and that it made me unhappy.
One would think that the Switch would help with that, but I just don't enjoy short gaming sessions for a few minutes or so. Gaming for me is diving in and fully enjoying the game for a least a couple of hours (minimum 30 minutes if I'm tired).

So for this year, since I was able to resolve some of last year's problems, I want to make more time for gaming (and eventually streaming or making videos), I think dedicating time specifically to it is the only solution. And I have done exactly that in the last two weeks or so and already had a lot of fun. I do shorter sessions of less demanding games like FM on weekday evenings and longer sessions of more demanding games like Splatoon2 or BotW.

Of course, what makes things even harder is the fact that I have lots of other interests/activities (making music, clubbing, playing football, writing, coding) that I'd like to spend more time with as well. So in the end I'll probably still end up compromising and not being happy in the end... but at least I will have one passion back properly.

And I still feel like - or rather am certain - I'm spending more time with surfing the web and posting (about games and other things) than with actually playing games. But I love reading and writing!

I usually play about 1 to 1.5 hours a day (which is enough time to play Breath of the Wild without having anything interesting or exciting happen, hehe...) Generally in the evening. I could play for longer if I wanted, but that seems like a good amount of time. Anything more than that, I'd probably get a headache.
