According to Modern Family, my friends, and other people I've come into contact with, there are two types of people in the world: Dreamers and Realists. The dreamers are always the ones with their heads in the clouds thinking of these ideas and possibilities that, at least at the time, make little to no sense at all. The realists are the more skeptical individuals who, if they could, would like to check to see if said idea has been done before and, if not, why hasn't it? Sorry for the horrid descriptions XD .
My question to you here at Nintendo Life is this: would you consider yourself to be more of a Dreamer or more of a Realist?
And to make things interesting, try to refrain from saying something along the lines of "I'm a little bit of both" . To do this, try and choose the one you lean toward the most!
I will start by saying that I am more of a dreamer than I am a realist. I always tend to have ideas and suggestions my peers tell me is a bit far out of left field . That said, I wouldn't give up my mind of a dreamer for anything in the world!
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
I am a realist but i dream about the future allot.. but i don't talk about dreams that much. its good to be realistic to solve problems in life. sure people have dreams but are they realistic about how they can achieve their dreams. this kinda debate goes on between conservatives and liberals in america. i live in California so its much worse, go figure.
speaking about dreams, California officials want a high speed rail way built here. so it might create a few hundred short term jobs but in the end this generation will be paying it off in tax hikes.
This is ground control to major Tom, you've really made the grade. And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare
I'm a realist, but that doesn't mean I don't have dreams. It just means that rather than sitting around wishing stuff would happen, I make it happen.
The phrase "anything is possible/ achievable" is often attributed to "dreamers," but that's a load of crap. Anything is possible to someone who works their backsides off and realises how the world works.
True, but man do I enjoy watching it. It's suppose to be a guilty pleasure, but I have no shame in watching it!
In all honesty, I made this because I saw they had an episode on it when I was watching it on Hulu Plus, and I wanted to know how you all felt about the topic

Dreamer. Meaning anything can happen to me, rather than the skeptical wimps that call them selves "Realists"
I say it depends on the dream, I mean you arnt going to sprout wings and fly tomorrow, but I dream of moving to Japan and getting married that's realistic

You work at something 18+ hours/ day I guarantee you you could make almost anything happen.

I mean strictly speaking. I mean that there are some dreams that will never, ever happen because the idea behind them is simply impossible.
AlexSays: I'm a postdoc. Yes, it annoys me too when people say that they are an "xx" when they're still in undergrad.
Ah, yeah, literally speaking some things are, of course, impossible.
The phrase "anything is possible" has different connotations to the literal, though. The phrase sociologically applies to real-world applications, like becoming a political leader or a sports star or an actor or something. It's aspirational, and with very few exceptions it holds true.

Sure, I agree with that. If I decide that I want to be Australia's next PM, that's within the realm of possibility (albeit perhaps not likely).
As for the interpretation of "anything is possible", well, I disagree that it's always limited by the bounds of reason when used. In any case, I was being overly rigorous (and just trying to explain my response).
I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

Hah, okay good. That's a tiny pet peeve of mine..
It's especially bad with pre-med undergrads. >.>
Yeah it annoys me when people become full of themselves when they begin undergrad. I don't think it's that common, but it does happen. During my PhD one of my friends was on the bus and heard some kid up the back loudly proclaiming to others that he was in the Space Science & Astrophysics course at Uni (the course we both did) and my friend turned around to see if she recognised the kid. He notices her and says, rather loudly, "People always turn around when I say I'm doing astrophysics". People like that give me the sh*ts - I'd love to know how far through his studies he got...
