Topic: Has the 3DS destroyed the Competition - Vita?

After the PSP I'm a little skeptical about the quality of Sony handhelds.

Well 3DS did get Monster Hunter 4 while Vita did not, so it may have won in Japan for now. But it's still too early to say who destroyed whom because the Vita is not out yet

It has a whole bunch of things, actually. Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Little King's Story 2, Silent Hill, Resistance, Persona 4, I think I also heard of an Assassin's Creed game, and more.

Why is it so freakin important which system destroys which?
Do you get some status symbol by having the most dominate system?
Just play your games and enjoy them. It's always gotta be a battle with you people.

I agree with Metal Mario about the Vita's upcoming games, that's the reason why I'll be pre-ordering one for launch!

In the end it always comes down to the quality of the game.

if a parent has to choose between keeping a roof over their kids' heads/putting food in their mouths or getting a new video game system, which do you think will be chosen? add in all the natural disasters this past year, ie earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding etc and there are a lot of people who are out of the market right now. for many there just isn't 'some way' available right now.

Agree. And having portable versions of PS3 games is sweet. The dual sticks finally allow us to play perfect ports of console games.

You think? I know you're not bashing the Vita per se, but you do come off as if you're prenouncing the Vita dead before it's even been released. The Vita won't be out for another 3-6 months, I think it's best if we hold off this kind of speculation until we actually see how it's doing sales-wise.

I think I'll do that. I didn't mean to bash the Vita, I think it's a great console with a ton of possibilities; this thread was probably a dumb idea.

Well clearly 3DS destroyed the Vita. Do you see any Vitas around here because I don't!!

The PS Vita will, IMO, do as well as the PSP has done. In other words, it won't dominate the 3DS, Nintendo has a stronger grip on handheld gaming.

Someone needs to go and spend some time shopping in Japanese game stores.

@WaltzElf I sorta can't do that, cause I don't live in Japan.

Poor wording asside, his point was that the PSP did well in its home country, which also happens to be the largest consumer of handheld gaming devices, hence why the 3DS is built exclusively with the Japanese in mind (much to the detriment of people in other countries). In other words, Nintendo doesn't have as firm a grip on the market as you think.

Personally, I think things will be flipped this time around - The 3DS will do well in Japan while the Vita will do well in the rest of the world, since it actually has games and features that would appeal more to a western audience.

I think both will do well in Japan, but I think the 3DS will do a little better like the PSP and DS gen
