Vita I want, but I won't jump in right away as I'm done with high priced handhelds to start as they fizzle (3DS) until the developers catch up with the system and pricing reality hits. I think in the end Vita, hell I know it, will be the #2 system again just like PSP. For a stretch I can see it outselling here and there for awhile, as PSP did, but Sony is still making many of the same PSP mistakes with it too. They have required memory cards to save like 3DS, but instead of an off the rack SD card, they made up yet another format and you can pay $30-150 for a 4, 8, 16 or 32GB card which is a joke, and it's a closed format so who knows when/if SanDisk will have cheaper alternatives as the memory stick pro(psp) was an open format other devices used. Games will be $40 and up, so they're at 3DS or higher levels, and the system will be at the non-mover level the PSP and stupidly Nintendo put the 3DS at which bombed due to the crap economy we're in. I can see Vita doing well in the long run as they've learned with PSP Go and the 3001 models how to lock the hardware done pretty tight from pandora type crap and other thievery fortunately so more 3rd parties will stick around instead of running away screaming too. I just see Vita within a year having a price drop and a bundle pack like PSP did for $200 w/a game, a download, a decent memory card, maybe a movie voucher too off PSN. At that point I see me and many others jumping into it. I like my Nintendo handhelds, they don't do dumb stuff on the scale of Wii and GC era screw ups there and have more diverse stuff, plus things often are saved to be, or just designed to be easily on/off bite sized fun. Sony doesn't get that, they do the console on the go racket but they also give experiences Nintendo usually won't do as much like the upcoming Uncharted game (but with MGS and MH4 being on there that could change too.)

@Mickeymac I was referring to the worldwide market.
And, as someone who has personally been to Mexico, I can safely assume that the 3DS's lower price point will help it as far as sales go in that area (even though everything is a lot more expensive there).

I'll be getting a Vita at some point, so I hope the two don't get in a fight and destroy each other.

My DS lite and PSP got into a fight before. I mean, what else could explain my DS lite's broken hinge and my jammed PSP?

That's console abuse. Not horseplaying until someone gets hurt.

I'm going to have to report you to Console Protective Service.

There are also some REALLY big names on that list (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Dead Space, Ninja Gaiden, Bioshock) that would completely crush almost everything that the 3DS currently has based on popularity alone.

so I guess that would mean everyone is joining into making no effort cash-in sequels?

Hmmm... Like every Mario or Pokemon? I hate those vita games just as much as you do, but think things through before trolling like that!

No, even Pokemon usually isn't this bad. I can look at a Pokemon game and most likely tell which is which pretty easily, even for games I haven't played. I can tell you the difference between the new 3DS Mario and the Galaxy games easily. I can't tell the difference between the Vita sequels and the PS3 versions. Even for two games that I've actually played quite a bit on PS3.

I mean, maybe some of those games will get another trailer and look worthwhile like what Nintendo did with Spirit Tracks a couple of years ago but right now it is almost as creatively bankrupt as the 3DS remakes.

That's only in your head. A new Mario or Pokemon game is, in effect, no different from a new Dragon Age game.

You mention Spirit Tracks, but lol. Just lol. Spirit Tracks is formula Zelda with a silly gimmick strapped on. You might like it, and that's great, I'm not saying it's a bad game per se, but you can't then turn around and have a cry because Vita games which you haven't even played and have new story lines (pretty important if we keep looking at Dragon Age, there), happen to share art assets and names to PS3 games.

agree to disagree

but the games tend to at least show you something to distinguish the games. The trailers should be like "hey it's that series you love, yay! Also, new stuff!" I haven't seen that really.

At first Spirit Tracks looked like "Phantom Hourglass with trains!" That's it. But then they showed Zelda dying, turning into a ghost and stuff like that and that was not something that happened in previous Zelda games and it looked awesome. I mean, that was pretty much everyone's reaction to Spirit Tracks.

Every game has a gimmick.

@KomicZ Agreed. Just some games have bigger gimmicks than others, which is kind of sad.
