And this is a bad thing?

Star Fox, Mario Maker and XCX? Because we haven't seen enough of them, well the latter two games at least.

I mean it's great that they're not going to announce games beyond 2015 of which they aren't even sure will release in time (SMTxFE, Yoshi, Zelda), but I hope there's still some surprises left, and that it doesn't turn out to be a predictable E3.

Actually the quote says that they'll be highlighting 2015 games. Nowhere does it say they won't announce or mention other titles aside from Zelda

I don't understand how the delay of one game suddenly made e3 so bad even before it started. I understand that Zelda was a centerpiece, but it wasn't going to be the only game showcased there

Zelda delay isn't the problem, the focus on 2015 titles is the true problem given what we know already that's releasing post-E3. I haven't got any results but I'm pretty sure outside of Smash, Splatoon was the most showcased game of last year's E3 and that's releasing just before this year's E3.

Do we? What's coming on the 3DS for the second half of this year?

Last year was focussed on 2015 games, if they're going to focus on 2015 games again, I expect more of the same. I don't need another 15 minute XCX footage reel to explain what the game is about, I've seen enough to know that I'm interested. We've already seen Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World on several occasions. It's not that Zelda's delay ''ruined'' an otherwise fine E3, it's the idea that they're probably going to focus on more of what we've already seen.

I'd love to see plenty of new stuff, I'm interested in Star Fox, and the two project games, but even those games have already been announced last year. For all I know it could turn out to be the best E3 I've ever seen, but who knows?

I think the problem is that we are already dismissing the event prematurely based on a possibly misinterpreted quote.

You know what, I'm staying optimistic. They could reveal some surprise games for the second half of the year, maybe they'll throw in some DLC for previously announced titles, and it could be rather grande. However, if it ends up being completely about titles we already knew about for a good year and has zero surprises...that would be rather disappointing. Still, optimistic.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

I took the quote to be rather positive, personally. I think it's hinting at some surprise reveals. I really doubt they'd just focus on XBX and StarFox. Especially since XBX releases in Japan next month

Now that Zelda is delayed, part of me is hoping Nintendo knew a 2015 release was unlikely long ago, and have prepared some other surprises for us, besides games we already knew about.

The logical part of me concludes Nintendo will let us down and not have an ace hidden up their sleeves to wow us.

Wow. This is getting really bad but it doesn't make sense... Pokken Fighters is obviously a 2016 Wii U game... right? They won't even mention it at E3?!

So Nintendo had an amazing E3 last year and now we're gonna have a lackluster E3 this year. No Zelda, No spotlight for games in 2016...

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

It never said there weren't going to show any 2016 games, but with the focus on 2015, I don't think it'll be like last year.

Right. I reread the quote, and it never specifically said that 2016 games would be completely absent. But I don't think there'll be that many. Besides, they'll probably reveal what they may have in store for 2016 in a Nintendo Direct later this year or something.

Considering there are literally zero major 3DS titles announced following April (or at least none that I remember) and only 2 significant WiiU games will a date of September, I expect there to be some bigger game announcements. Nintendo has usually followed the philosophy of announcing games close to release to avoid people freaking out like they are now due to some delays. But last E3 Nintendo was in such a bad place with the WiiU they need to come out guns blazing with every title they could realistically show.

I hope we get at least a couple of decent new Wii U announcements that will be out between either later this year or early next year. I'd almost go as far as saying I'd expect that. Because in the last couple of years we've heard about most of the big titles less than a year before they've come out. Wind Waker HD, 3D World, Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, DKC:TF. Even Smash Bros was only just barely over a year and I'd assume Starfox will be about the same. What I'd want would be something along the lines of Animal Crossing or Metroid.

Beyond that? Maybe another couple of bigger things for further down the road. Lots of trailers. Fingers crossed for another decent title from someone like Platinum. I just hope the whole thing doesn't lean too heavily on just the stuff we already know about. I also hope that it doesn't end up being about a lot of small titles that nobody cares about. No Wii Music style game being the star. Please. For 3DS? I'm almost a little bit over my 3DS, I won't mind if they forget it again.

As for the rest of the show? I hope someone comes up with something decent. Something that makes me think that building a decent PC late last year was worth it. That'd be cool. Because right now I kinda feel like I'm mostly using it for indies and ports of 360 games. Please gaming industry, bring my PC to its knees. Hammer both my CPU and my GPU and not just because the game is poorly optimised.

@skywake My biggest concern lies in the fact that the Miiverse stage and tournaments are not coming in the April 15th Smash update. Why you ask? Well last E3, Nintendo had a huge focus on Smash and if there's enough new content for Smash I think they might do it again. We know Lucas is coming in June, so for all we know there could be stage packs released around the same time (e.g. N64 pack in early July containing Hyrule Castle, Saffron City, Sector Z and Peach's Castle).

While I'm extremely happy about the big 2014 games having huge amounts of support via DLC, E3 should mainly be about upcoming games.
