Really thought provoking video, makes a lot of sense and I think this video should be watched and discussed.

I agree we have a double standard, but it's not entirely a problem. When a someone/something has done really well for a very long time, we have higher expectations of them. That's why you see Pixar get a lot of hate for Cars 2 and Brave when Dreamworks has put out plenty of garbage. The same thing happens to Nintendo. When Nintendo loses money, it's a surprise. When Nintendo doesn't have a killer app at launch, it's a surprise. It doesn't matter what Sony and Microsoft are doing because we aren't comparing Nintendo to Sony and Microsoft. We are comparing the Nintendo of today to a Nintendo at some previous time.

At the same time, some of it is unacceptable. His Mario Kart 8 Polygon example is a good example. There is no reason we should dig into a company for no reason. Sometimes it's really bad click baiting (I'm looking at you Motley Fool).

SMH I've seen plenty of articles about Sony's financial situation (the guy clear hasn't been on news and financial sites and has just been looking at game sites), this is the problem with some people who enjoy Nintendo they think that they're the only company out of the three that get negative articles they're not it's just that game sites focus on Nintendo's financial situation because videogames is really all they do (except love hotels jk). The Playstation division at this point is doing well financially so there is nothing to report and Microsoft are Microsoft (nuff said).

Edit: I'll agree there is a double standard just that it really isn't as bad as some fans make it out to be.

People hated Brave?

A lot of people were underwhelmed. I never went to see it as it didn't look really interesting.

I'm a huge fan of Monsters U though.

The problem with Sony is that Playstation isn't making enough money. The rest of the company is bleeding too much that Playstation's performance won't matter if the company goes under at the rate it is.

You're right, and make a good point. Well said.

At the same time, it's gotten to the point of non-Nintendo fans purposely crucifying Nintendo and their games beyond reason or fairness. DKC Tropical Freeze was martyred at the hands of Gamespot and Eurogamer. I've seen many reviews I've disagreed with in my day, and that's to be expected, but never had I seen reviews with such clear and intentional falsehoods and omissions, to the point one could rightfully label them as malicious slander and not be off the mark.

Not to mention, many people who compare Nintendo to what they've done in the past, they tend to see things through rose-tinted glasses. They always seem to remember things as better than they actually were. They put Nintendo's past on this unattainable pedestal, and forever complain that the Nintendo of today doesn't measure up.

So I can see both sides of it. I do think we should hold Nintendo to Nintendo standards, but at the same time we need to keep things in perspective.

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

I know Sony as a whole is in a pickle at the moment which is why the company as a whole is changing, could Sony go under sure could Nintendo go under if the videogames market crashes (or their market share further decreases) sure but as long as Sony is around Playstation will be around.

I don't think it's wrong to have high expectations.

However, I do think that the press in general has degenerated into a click-bait mentality. It's not just gaming and Nintendo, but everywhere I see certain people and groups becoming punching bags and controversies being pulled out of rear ends.

All he really did in that video was call the trolls trolls for 10 minutes.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

To be fair Tropical Freeze got a lot of heat from both sides (fans and non-fans), most of it undeserved IMO.

This has been a problem for a while. I've more or less stopped reading newspapers and watching the news on TV, it just isn't a beneficial thing to spend your time on anymore.
If the news was just a well-presented list of everything that happened in the world, then great. That might be worth paying attention to. But that's not what the news is. The news is what happens when they take that list of events and filter out anything that won't scare you, shock you or anger you (very occasionally they include something that you'll be really happy about). Which is why you get people writing articles like "Nintendo is Racist". They don't believe that for a second. They just know that millions of people will get angry and visit their website to comment on the story.

Best news is from Al Jazeera - If they have somebody on it speaking about something they don't cut the actual proper explanation. (If it does have any bias it is against my natural ones and most of the other news organisations).

BBC is too dumbed down.

The most entertaining is probably Russia Today.

I couldn't watch the entire video, he just droned on about what all of us here already know. It's not as big a deal as people think. Nintendo keep chugging along and that's exactly what they should be doing

This, essentially. Great Laytons think alike.
