I found Metroid Prime 3 incredibly difficult, I couldn't adapt to the first person view. I kept getting lost, my TV displayed very thing as one mundane very dark color making it impossible to see sometimes. In the end I just quit. I spent 2 hours roaming around this one area looking desperately for a way to progress. It wasn't fun.
Zelda II is not on my list because that game has a fair difficulty. Most of the people who disagree never came close to beating it.
Exactly? The fact that many people never come close to finishing it is because its difficulty is frustrating and badly designed, not because they've never played difficult games before.
As someone who's beaten it several dozen times over the past 20+ years, i always find this "argument" to be humorous.

If it's so difficult, use a walkthrough. Otherwise I don't understand what's so difficult about it. It's just as difficult and as cheap as any other NES game out there.
I agree with @Geonjaha about Zelda II and @Chrono_Cross on Rhythm paradise. @Chrono_Cross I'm very surprised to see Super Mario sunshine on your list. I thought you loved that game.
Another game ruined by difficulty is Infinite space, the worst RPG I've played. The difficulty and learning curves were awful! It didn't help that it tried so hard to explain how to play the game yet still failed at that. I also got to a point where it was literally impossible to progress unless I started over due to a terrible design flaw.
Zelda 2. That game is just not designed well. You can say it's as hard as any other NES game, but that's kind of telling of most NES games anyway. Quite frankly, the only ones I didn't find to be frustratingly and unfairly hard were Mega Man 2-6, Mario 3 (because the core gameplay is so good), Kirby's Adventure (because it's easy but still fun), Kid Icarus (becuase it has an inverse difficulty curve), and maybe Zelda 1 (and that's a stretch). That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
Gauntlet. I have this cartridge. It's one of the few unbeaten games I have in my NES collection. Is this game really that difficult or am I just crazy?
High Difficulty:
F-Zero GX for the Gamecube. I'm sorry, but I cannot beat the third level in campaign even on the easiest difficulty. You have to be so precise and fast to even stay in 4th place. Even then, slightly touch the walls or other cars, everybody behind will zoom past you. The 90 degree and zigzag turns made it even worse. I only once after a million retries got to 1st place before the guy behind me drove past me at the last second at the finish line. Boosters are also 100% required to even have a chance to win.
I had the game back in ~2004 and owned it for a number amount of years, and then I sold it. I bought the game again last year to see if I could do better. Still couldn't beat it even after almost a decade later. I found Castevania and Zelda II for the NES to be cakewalk compared to this game.
I want to like this game and play it more, I really do. It has all the qualities of a good game, but the un-human like difficulty and annoying track designs makes this game unplayable.
I agree 100%. I don't know how I would do now, but when I was a kid I don't think I ever finished in the top 15. I really would like the next F-Zero game to be easier...
It's not hard, but it's the most tedious Metroid game which makes it difficult to get through. I had dips in interest with Metroid Prime 2 multiple times, which made my first and only completion of that game go across several years.
"The secret to ultimate power lies in the Alimbic Cluster."
Wario Land: Shake It - The game was a good difficulty level until the final boss, which was way too difficult. It's more annoying that the rest of the game is fine, but the final boss is just a gigantic difficulty spike that's way too frustrating. Still unbeaten.
Radiant Historia - I was moving along, really enjoying the story, when all of a sudden, a giant difficulty spike comes out of nowhere. I'm talking about Ch. 4, the thaumachine boss. Never got past it.
@EmpireIndustries The shake king was a very hard final boss but the boss fight against him didn't seem like that much of a difficulty spike to me which could be because I found the previous two bosses pretty hard too but not as hard as the Shake king but I did beat him in the end.
Solatorobo for the DS waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy man, I just quit before finishing it cause I found it annoying that I've rarely get hit at all in that game.
I haven't seen an awesome, well made game that was too hard to beat as of yet. Maybe Contra, Contra 4, Ninja Gaiden. But i've beat em already so they don't count

Eh, I found Bloomsday more difficult than the King, lol.

I do but the camera angles made everything unnecessarily harder. Also, blue coins.
Metroid Prime 2 isn't that difficult. >.>
Of course not, but that doesn't mean it didn't have its moments.
Pretty much too easy for me would be alot of games this gen. Alot of games this gen just are way to easy for me it seems like alot of them hold the players hand. Sometimes I dont mind cause I just want to blow through a game to see the storyline but other times I beat the game in like 2 days and I am like ok thats it??? Clearly not worth the sixty bucks
For to hard of games the one that comes to mind is Battletoads. My god I have tried to love this game for years. Even now I still find myself popping it to my NES trying to enjoy it and than level 3 rears its ugly head and it all goes down hill from that.
