Shield was pretty dope last night. After seeing this episode i'm even more in the corner that the shield plot line is building toward Civil War next year. I think in universe Age of Ultron will be something that happens out of the Blue and cements the the Gonzalez faction in their hate of powered people. Before this episode I thought GShield was going to be cautious of Super Stuff but they seem to outright hate it even calling Skye it. The biggest surprise was Deathlok coming back in Spiffy new Armor which I didn't see coming. I thought the reinforcements were going to be Grant and Masque. The fact that it wasn't hyped up and he wasn't in the credits for the episode is how these things should be done. I guessed he was coming back, but not until the Ultron episode.

I was a bit worried the Real Shield arc was going too be too much of a regurgitation of the Hydra arc, but this was really well done and ties into pushing Skye over with the Inhumans. Its actually interesting in that were close to having a Secret Avengers Roster with Deathlok, Quake, and Mockingbird.

April 28th - The ending of this seasons Shield Plot lines and everyone is blindsided by Ultron coming to destory the world
May 5th - Ultron tie in
May 12th - two hour season finale (Ultron Tie in)

Your first statement was what I was thinking watching the whole episode. They really seem to be dividing factions now which leads me to believe that the upcoming movie will also have that tie in as a theme as well.

while I enjoyed the episode it did seem all over the place. I think I would have rather had a full episode of Coulson's story, full episode of Skye's story and a full episode of May's story (including her back story). With how much it jumped around I felt like very little was said in a large amount of time. I still enjoyed the episode and am wondering how Skye's mom is there and when Skye finds out how that will play out

So is Skye's mom wolverine? Because I could have sworn that Whitehall harvested organs. They made it look like she was pretty much a meat sack with shoulders when Cal found her.

Also...I don't sense any connection between Skye's parents. Considering the reason that Cal is so fricken nuts is due to the loss of his family I would have thought that there would have been something more between them. Did she use him to produce a Descendant? Did getting gutted destroy her ability to love (I don't think so because she was pretty much "Daisy, I am your mother" for part of their convo)? Is she just disgusted by how crazy her husband is now?

Also since there is a Cal/Coulson daddy jealousy I want to see a showdown between May and Skye's mother. Personally I ship May/Skye (cuz Ming Na Wen is amazing and my yuri goggles are strapped WAY too tight) but I know that is never going to happen so I'm cool with a Team Mom fight.

Last note... can somebody teach Jemma how to fight because she has fooled hydra, bobbi, and the real shield agents without flinching. What happened to the lab geek that couldn't lie? At this point they need to just send her in for all the double agent work.

My fear is they have their hands in too many pots and it all begins to get old very fast. It's almost too much as is.

That is where if they did end up splitting the show it might be healthy. Rather than 1 show trying to have all these plot lines, having two shows dividing the stories they want to tell. But if they just make another show as chaotic as AoS then I think it will fail

I don't feel that the show is chaotic. I just feel that they use the show to tie up loose ends from the movies and lay groundwork for the new ones. The inhuman angle is due to no mutants in MCU and to the inhumans movie on the way. The shield fracture cleans up the hydra plotlines from the Cap WS and prepares for Civil War which is heading to the big screen. The rest of the character arcs seem pretty standard fare for a tv show.

I feel like there is the inhumans line, Skye's line to me is separate, Split SHIELD line, Coulson's Line, May is going to be the main focus next episode to explain her backstory, Mack and Bobbie have their own story line going, Fitz and Simmons have their own thing. To me it is getting pretty crazy. If the show was focused on the inhumans or SHIELD it would be a better flow. Just let Skye and the inhumans run their own show while SHIELD focuses on SHIELD stories. You can still have connections to the two but right now I think there are just to many moving pieces.

hmm. considering most ensemble cast shows kick folks to the background pretty quickly I applaud shield for keeping everyone growing in some fashion. However if you split it into pieces like that I can see how that can get hard to follow. I lump coulson,may,mack/bobbie, and fitz simmons as part of the shield divided story. Skye and her family issues are inhumans/civil war build up to me. Ward is hydra storyline and his own thing (he seriously creeps me out).

I lump them together too but they each have their own story lines where they all won't make the same decision. If it was Coulson and the people following coulson vs "Real" SHIELD then it would be easier to follow, but you have characters that are each following different trains of thought with possibly different end results. Coulson is wanting to take back SHIELD. Bobbie and Mac are worried they might be on the wrong side. Fits and Simmons are trying to protect a huge SHIELD secret. And it doesn't help that "Real" SHIELD doesn't make sense.

That is why I think separating Skye's story and SHIELD's story could help the show a lot. If we only had to focus on SHIELD vs "Real" SHIELD the story lines might be easier to follow. Jumping between Inhumans and SHIELD is making it confusing as there is so little connecting them, basically just Skye. If Skye got her own spin-off and they focused on training super powered people while AoS focused on finding super powered people before "Real" SHIELD could take them out then the story lines would be very clear. You would have some over lap, occasionally one person might be on both shows, but you would have a clear line between the stories. But that is just my opinion.

So Howard the Duck #2 is pretty darn good.

Also, Daredevil tomorrow! Who else is excited!

I can't wait to watch the rest of Daredevil... I will have to wait until I finish my MCU Rewatch which will end this Sunday. Also I need to read Howard the Duck #2 and SHIELD #4 (picked them up last night)

Question, will I have to watch season two of SHIELD to know what's going on in any of the Netflix series? I'm the only one in the house that likes SHIELD, so I haven't been able to keep up with season 2.
