I just hope the 1999 remake, Sol Bianca: The Legacy, is better.
Sol Bianca: The Legacy is one of my favourite OVAs. The plot, characters and music are all top-notch and the show takes place independently of the original Sol Bianca. (Which I haven't watched, so I can't confirm that.) The animation is pretty stunning, definitely not what you'd expect from a televised series. The show has a unique, vibrant feel about it that could only have come from that late 90s period. I love how the story and universe of Sol Bianca: The Legacy is a celebration of human achievement over the course of history - its "legacy", that is. It's a beautifully and entertainingly told story.
Oh, for anyone looking for a good shounen/action series I'd like to recommend Gate Keepers again. It's got lots of great action; plenty of humour, but also its fair share of drama; a ragtag bunch of characters with surprisingly deep personalities and backstories; an interesting fighting "system" which ties perfectly into its story; awesome villains who you love to hate (and hate to love); and an OVA sequel with a totally different, contemporary aesthetic that will blow your mind after watching the original show. I couldn't ask for more, personally.
Not to mention the whole thing is an homage to those cheesy old Japanese action shows with their hero teams, giant robots and alien invaders, but all done with an unexpected postmodern twist. I personally think it's a masterpiece (if you're aware of the general lore behind Japanese live/animated action television), but perhaps that's enough superlatives for one post.
I could never get into Brotherhood or the manga after volume 10 or so. I love the first anime and the beginning of the manga, but the soul of it kind of got lost for me as the manga story went on...FMA is a smaller, tighter, character based story and I love that. The manga becomes (and Brotherhood) this big epic story with tons of characters and focus on the plot. And the plot just never gripped me.

I actually wouldn't say Brotherhood wasn't character based when it comes down to it. It does have a lot more characters and a much larger plot to deal with, but I think the characters were still what drove the story along. I really wouldn't care about Brotherhood at all if it weren't for the great development of all the characters. It manages to develop every character to a much farther extent than the original anime except for Lust and Izumi, and I found every character to be a lot more interesting given everything that was shown about their characters, especially the homunculi.
And Tucker got what was coming to him, which I liked a lot.
I guess something is just wrong with me then. XD After a while, it got to where I was falling asleep during each episode (granted, I was watching on Adult Swim, where it comes on at like 1 or 2 in the morning...). BUT, if I remember correctly, I missed a few episodes. It's possible that I missed something important that would have made me care what was going on. I'll give it another shot sometime soon. Do you remember what episode it stops being rehash of the first series/early manga chapters? IMO, those episodes are god awful (they're rushed and it took the animators forever to figure out how to make the characters look decent and not like Fisher Price toys >_>).

I wouldn't say something's wrong with you. You just like different types of plot. (Although I love the original and I'm going to start re-watching it with my brother soon) But if you missed a few episodes I think it would be really easy to get lost. The plot can move pretty quickly.
If I'm right, the plots split at about Episode 13 or 14, when Greed shows up.
My dear friends. Please don't leave me out here in the cold with this miserable Vampire Knight. Vampires, Vampires and more VAMPIRES! When will this Vampire craze end?
However, the Shiki anime is slow and drab but I like the character designs.
Please tell me there is some other site with Black Butler. I don't want to watch the second series Black Butler II. I want to finish Black Butler first.
Hahahaha! Yes, right, that is when you have lots of money. Nope, I won't be able to afford anime DVD collections. Our family isn't quite money pocket laden. Anime and manga is expensive. That's why we get our anime and manga from the public library or hulu.com or crunchyroll.com. T_T
If I can't find it at a site like Crunchyroll or at the library then I'll probably end up having to download Black Butler Season 1 from either iTunes or the Sony PSN.
But I thank you for your concern Mickeymac. If I can find a used or inexpensive DVD I certainly will buy it. However, at Target and Best Buy anime and stuff from Japan is REALLY expensive. However, I'm really not wanting to raid my money tin as all of that money is reserved to finance my purchase of the Sony NGP and software for the 3DS. Once I get finished with college and all then maybe I'll have a good job and can afford other things like buying anime.

Keep an eye on Amazon, they have good deals on Anime all the time. Recently I got the Eden of the East movie for $13 (and it was a double pack, with a DVD AND Blu-Ray copy).
