Okay guys, if you want to talk about Adult Swim, there is a thread for it. Please keep on-topic.
I wasn't talking about Adult Swim...I find it hilarious a fourm without a search function is so strict about staying on topic...
Ya what he said.
Furthermore Anime is short for Animation. In Japan, the term anime does not specify an animation's nation of origin or style; instead, it serves as a blanket term to refer to all forms of animation from around the world. English-language dictionaries define anime as "a Japanese style of animation" or as "a style of animation originating in Japan". I can call "Anime" what other people have the right to call a "Cartoon". A good example is 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' or 'Teen Titans'. Although made in America but you can find these programs on most anime sites, most people see the shows as an anime. I'm just trying to say in Japanese, it's animation in general. In English, it's Japanese animation style. A person from Japan could come to the USA and watch "Looney Tunes" and say "hilarious anime"
Catch my drift? So technically I wasn't off-topic in regards to Adventure Time. But I don't want to offend and so I'll get back to the discussion of actual anime as in Naruto or Speed Racer.

We're not in Japan, Red, over here Anime means Japanese animation. So unless it's from Japan it's off topic. Screw it, I don't even understand what you just said, so I won't reply to it.
On topic:
Fractale is getting heavier, creepier, and more convoluted by the episode, and I don't think I like it. I like my shows to be consistant. I'll still finish it of course, but it won't get a good review from me.
@Tokyored-youre basically arguing that you knew what context anime is here but took it out of there anyway. Just for clarification, anime is "japanese animation." There are seriously dozens of threads for other kinds of cartoons, from Justile League to Cartoon Networkl to Adult Swim here on NL. I appreciate your understanding.

Guys don't sweat it. I was just being nerdy by taking Anime down to it's smallest deminator in definition. I really am sorry I got off topic. It won't happen again.
Anyway I've gotten past the first eight to ten episodes of Captain Harlock and at long last we're done with the absurd Nolan/ Eneru/ Skypeia saga in One Piece and boy am I glad. It was starting to get old fast.

We did good this winter season, with a lot of interesting anime, most of which was simulcast in the United States (though we're still missing Madoka Magica ). This coming season, IMO, ain't looking too good, and there's no word right now on what will be simulcast if at all. In fact there's only one I'm looking forward to, (Tea For Universe, Tea For Life), and I sincerely hope it gets licensed outside Japan.
Tea for the universe? Haven't heard of it,but sounds interesting from the title. I'll have to check that out.
I'm about to start tatami galaxy. The art is done by the same person who makes Asian Kung fu Generation's album cover art so it'll probably be pretty. EDIT: High School of the Dead now has a dub for anyone that doesn't want to read subtitles. another edit: Got side tracked and watched the new Shakugan no Shana OVA. Very touching episode. Plus a special something at the end. I hope season 3 gets announced soon.
But besides the pervy stuff this show is awesome!!

Glad you like it so far.
I recently saw the third episode of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. It's nothing short of amazing. Great action, some powerful moments and an intriguing, dramatic plot. The characters are all interesting, too, and it's sad to see some of them go. Seriously, this stuff is ace, the best of the pack so far, and the next one's looking to top it. I also saw the first four episodes of Ah! My Goddess (OVA). So far I love it. The first episode was a bit rushed and confused, but still entertaining. The second episode was a beach episode, which I find hard to sit through, and this was no exception. I still liked it, but it was very uncomfortable sometimes. The third episode was very good, my favorite so far. The fourth episode was where it detracts from the manga apparently, and I like the new direction. I can't wait to see how it all plays out. Hopefully I'll get to the final episode tonight. All in all, it was a good day for anime. Now to go watch One Piece.
EDIT: Just watched the Fifth episode. It was surprisingly compelling, I was really into it. A great way to end things. Now I gotta get around to the TV anime and the movie someday.
I recently finished off Ah! My Goddess (OVA). It's a story about a man who ends up getting a Goddess as a girlfriend and their not-so-normal life together. It was pretty good, a good mix of humor with a somewhat compelling plot. I'm normally not a fan of slice of life or humor, but this one was actually quite enjoyable. I just felt like it did things just right, though it's not without its flaws. The first episode rushed too much, and I didn't care for the awkwardness of episode 2. With that said, I did greatly enjoy the third episode and the drama of the last two episodes.
I should also take note of the dub, since I'd say it's pretty good for its time. My copy is dated 2001, and I'm not sure if it was dubbed before that. For an old dub, the voices really fit the characters, and the actors really seemed to do a good job delivering their lines. Really, I'm impressed.
All in all, I really liked it a lot, and it convinced me to go try out the TV series, which I hear is even better. I might also give the Movie a try, assuming I can get my hands on it.
^ Best movie ever, hope you enjoy it! You should watch the Digimon movie while you wait. =D
I'm on the last episode of HOTD. GREAT show, even with the distracting perverted stuff.
I also got into Pandora Hearts this weekend when I randomly bought the first manga volume. Anyone else read/seen it? It's neat so far, it has quite a few Alice in Wonderland references.

I watched it up to episode 3. The main girl really creeped me out, though, so I stopped watching. I might have to start up again, though, I forget why it creeped me out.
I was gonna rant on again about how amazing Gundam Unicorn was, but then I got distracted and two hours later I just don't freakin' care anymore.
Who, Alice? XD goes to Wikipedia Ohhh, the anime goes a little bit slower than the manga. You stopped right when Alice is explained more. She's not bad at all and the creepiest parts might not have been her (not sure on this yet, she just made it clear that she hasn't killed anyone when told that something like her Black Rabbit form had killed before).

I've had Volumes 4, 5 and 6 of Fullmetal for some time (bought them intending to buy the others, but then never got around to it), but I just found Volumes 1, 2 and 3 in a discount bookstore, so I snapped 'em up. £12 isn't too bad going for the three books, will be interesting to see how close Brotherhood is to it. Got To Kill a Mockingbird too, but that's not manga
Alsooo, cheap copy of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Complete Season 1 (4 DVDs) on Amazon, snapped that up. Should arrive in a week or two, yay.
