I recently saw the first episode of the touhou anime and it was okay. It seems like the series has a slow start, hopefully it will get better.
won't they only come out about once a year?! It's a doujin right?
BTW, I'm feeling nostalgic so what was the anime that got you into anime? For me it was card captor sakura. I think I might go rewatch it goes to download the blu rays......
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Dragon Ball Z, and RoboTech. Toonami was the best television Block ever.
Full Metal Alchemist was the show that got me back into anime, since I had long grown tired of the childish, inane action shows they were showing over here (with Naruto being the final straw). It was only temporary, though, since almost everything else they showed were dull action shows, now with convoluted storylines.
Excel Saga and Mobile Suit Gundam were the shows that got me back into anime permanently.
The english dub of Naruto is crap but the japanese version is great! Am I the only one here who likes Naruto?
Meh, my problem with Naruto is that it's a mindless action show with repetitive plot elements and convoluted lore. Plus Naruto himself is annoying and obnoxious. No editting or dubbing could really change that. Don't get me wrong, those problems aren't unique to Naruto - a lot of popular shows, including Dragon Ball Z and Bleach, suffered from those same problems, and I disliked them all the same. It's just really not my thing. The only reason I pointed out Naruto was because it was so insanely popular that I couldn't get away from it, and it even seemed to crowd out all the good shows on Toonami.
I think next I'll watch....uhh Idk I have such a big list I've heard people talk about Cowboy BeBop what's that about?
Space cowboys.
I finished watching Char's Chounterattack, thus ending the Gundam Saga I've been obsessively following like a madman for the last few months. I also watched Gundam F91 just for kicks. Oh, and I also watched RoboTech while I waited for them to arrive in the mail. Since I don't feel like watching Victory Gundam, I guess it's about time I moved on.
Does anybody know of any good "Real Robot" Shows? (i.e. Shows where Giant Robots are used to a semi-realistic military purpose) Preferably ones that lay off the absurd fantasy elements?
Neon Genisis Evangelin, parallel Dual, Dia Guard,Full metal Panic, RaXpheon, and its good but fantasy Escaflowna.
Thanks a lot, man. Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure was great, especially since it reminded me of Tenchi Muyo (made by the same guys). The Vision of Escaflowne was a nice nostalgia trip, since I watched it when I was a kid, but could never remember the name until you mentioned it. RahXephon was also very good, but not quite what I was looking for at the time, though I'll be sure to watch it all once I'm in the right mood. The other 3 weren't my thing, but still obviously good shows, and hey, 50/50's better than nothing.
If no one has seen it, I'd recommend watching Now & Then, Here & There. It's not perfect, but it's different enough to be very enjoyable.

Just started watching Bomberman Jetters a few days ago. It is FANTASTIC. The early episodes are just silly stuff but it gets a plot at 13 and becomes amazing.

Nevermind, I found a site. Unfortunately, I have to wait a half-an-hour after watching 3 episodes. I guess that'll build up the intensity, and make me want to watch it more, though.
It's been a pretty odd show, thus far. I'm hoping that further on in the show will be much faster-paced. Since it has just been a bunch of kids whining, and saving each other up to this point.

An anime that I highly recommend that none of you have probably watched is Last Exile. It starts off slow but after the 4th episode, you're hooked. It's not typical at all - none of the irritating childishness that @Mickeymac was talking about. It's very introspective and emotional. Basically, it's set in a steampunk universe, where there's an immense war being fought between two nations. The war is watched over by the Guild, who mediates the conflict. The story focuses on two kids who work as couriers using a 2-seater airship, and how they get embroiled in the conflict and find out the rotten truths going on behind the scenes. Really great show, with great art direction, plot and atmosphere, if you can get past the slow start.
BTW it was made by Gonzo in celebration of their 10th anniversary. Expect excellent production values!
@HolyMackerel I guess I'll have to add that one to my list. Might watch it after I finish Neon Genesis: Evangelion and Gantz. I have so many Anime I still need to watch. o.o
Anyway, I'm on episode 10 of Gantz, and this show is so awkward. I don't know what's wrong about it, but every episode I see myself facepalming because the main character is so dumb. xD

Hey H-Mac. I agree you You highly on this one. I've recommended this one here before but never went into details.

Ah the Eva series brings back memories. Yeah Gants can do that to you. Facepalm away. I cant say it gets much better then as far into the series you are though. So if your just not liking it you might want to stop now.

Nah, I'm pretty 'in to it' up to this point. Might as well finish it. It's just that it's both tense, awkward, and slightly insane all at the same time. So my hand is kind of glued to my face while I'm watching it. lol
And yeah, Evangelion brings some memories for me, too. I remembered this scene where all of these people were getting ripped apart from when I was a kid scrolling through the TV (not a delightful experience) and I checked up what it was. I guess it was this show. So, I'm finally watching the show, and it's been pretty good so far. =D
@HolyMackerel I can't afford the entire manga! Are you crazy? I'll watch some of those, though. After I read some reviews, that is. P:

Hmm, other great shows which might not have been mentioned:
.hack//SIGN
Ah! My Goddess
Chrno Crusade
Darker Than BLACK
Gate Keepers/Gate Keepers 21
Ghost In the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Scrapped Princess
Serial Experiments Lain
Shadow Skill
SoltyRei
Sol Bianca: The Legacy
Trinity Blood
Witch Hunter Robin
Yakitate!! Japan
That's a lot, so I won't go into detail unless someone asks.
Oh, and Death Note deserves to be read as a manga. Don't watch the show, read the manga!
Of all of these the only ones I've seen are Ah! My Goddess and Lain. The first really good the second I like but can see a lot of people saying what in the world is going on here. Lain is still one of the weirdest series I've every seen.
How about I think it was called parallel agent. Some kid with a golden hockey stick hitting people over the head at the end of the show. Help me out H-Mac does that sound right. One more Samurai shamploo is also a good one. From the makers of my favorite Cowboy Bebop.

I loved Last Exile its one of my favorites well what I saw of it. I got about half way through it before Netflix stopped streaming it now I have to find somewhere I can watch the rest of it or get it on disc from Netflix.
The art style reminds me alot of FMA. And yeah your right it starts off slow but it gets better and sucks you in at least it did with me.

I just finished Gantz, and I didn't really enjoy it all too much. In the credits and intro it always seemed like those 3 would team up and kick some alien . But most of 'em ended up getting their own kicked. It was good, but it was far from great. D:
