20 min: The sex scene usually comes at the end of the movie, not the first half hour.

35 min: That yeling was pretty sudden. Now they're crying. So our heroes are bipolar. Fantastic.
38 min: So how does busting a water pipe shut down the school's electricity and send both of them into space to dance in a rose garden and have them instantly change their wardrobe or am I just asking too many questions? Also, I'd hate to be allergic to pollen when the roses are falling.
40 min: I love how Anthy just ditches Utena and makes her try to catch up to her in the MASSIVE COMPLICATED ESCHER SCHOOL!
42 min: Essence = Naked. Wait'll my art class hears this.

62 min: Demonic carwash? I think we've just entered the weird part of this movie....
63 min: Wow.... no words can describe what I'm seeing. The demon carwash is using techno babble with the epic chorus and descend into the bowels of the school to turn Utena into a car.
64 min: And now it's rusting. And Anthy is driving her. This is bizarre... and now the radio with the shadow girls and making me want to kill myself all over again.
65: Wait, there's hundreds of them in a big studio??? I could barely handle hearing 2 of them? Now over 100????
66 min: "It's a mistake to think that you're the only one that can turn into a car. I'm a car now too." Best line in the movie. And she just smashed by driving into a wall. Easiest way to kill a psycho.
68 min: Cars on the ceiling. Sure, why not?
69 min: Wait, the rainbow haired club were good guys? WHAT??? But at least green is still being a complete tool.
71 min: WHAT??????? THE SCHOOL IS A MASSIVE MONSTER TRUCK???? SWEET MERCIFUL BUDDHA!!!! DISNEYWORLD IS TRYING TO KILL HER!!!!
75 min: Now Akio is a giant and is raising so many creepiness. Living corpse? And Akio is certainly eager to keep Anthy. You can tell him his voice. (not).
77 min: So Anthy and Utena both explode through Akio's chest naked and the entire truck along with Akio turns to roses as they have sex while driving into the real word with insanely long hair flowing in the breeze as the school is filled with straw dummies of everyone. That's..........anime for you. I think that's a good moral to leave this on. This is just anime.

I'm thinking about doing that from now on wth anime movies. Recomend a movie (this goes to everyone),and I'll post my reactions to the movie as I see it. Let's see how it works

Detective Conan: The Fourteenth Target

I urge you all to watch Redline. It's 100 minutes of pure "HOLY. F-ING. HELL." from start to finish. Where other racing films will break up the action with slower scenes to flesh out the story, this film says no. This film says, this race isn't exciting enough yet; so launch the entire army and every bullet at its disposal towards it. This film says, why isn't there an Akira-style eldritch abomination blowing all to hell yet? And rectifies that by putting one in, and calls it Funky Boy. This film says, is 600km/h fast enough? Like hell it is. Not nearly enough zeroes.

It spent five years in development from studio Mad House, and sports a fantastic (and amazingly animated) western graphic art style. It makes F-Zero look like summer camp for preschoolers (and now I'm hoping like hell the next entry in Nintendo's series takes a look and uses the same art style). Trailer below; it's not even what you'd call the highlights. The whole freaking movie is like this and doesn't let up for a moment.

Thank you. And Kanon 2006, Air, and Clannad all have the same Studio, Director, Character Designer and I think even composition in common. Ironically I was misinformed when I mentioned that they were from the same creator. The Visual Novels all have the same developers, but in Angel Beat's case the visual novel came after the show. Other than that, they have nothing else in common, really, other than being really good dramedies. I'm glad you liked them anyways, I've been enjoying them myself as well.

I finished watching Code Geass a few days ago...and I'm not happy with the end results. While not explaining the origins of one of the characters that sets almost all of the events in motion, the anime also twists its own story to come up with a plot device that flips the world of the anime on its head. And not only that, but the anime comes up with another plot device so that there can be a final confrontation between the big bad and the goody two-shoes of the series...a confrontation that the anime never resolves and leaves hanging in the air. So yeah, I didn't like Code Geass.

Lately I've just been watching a lot of One Piece. I'm following both the current episodes and watching it in order. I just hit episode 400 today, so only 124 until I've gone full circle. So worth it...

@V8: I warned someone against Code Geass a while back in this same thread. Sorry you wasted your time like that...

I'm still certain Code Geass is only popular because of how hilariously bad it looks.

however, Bleach is also popular so there doesn't need to be a real reason for something to be popular

Finished watching Lucky Star yesterday. It started to drag a bit towards the end but the OVA was good.

I just started watching Gurren Lagann today and it's EXCELLENT so far! I'm surprised that neither Cartoon Network or SyFy Channel have picked it up. I'm also surprised that there isn't more Gurren Lagann manga and merchandise in some of the Otaku and Geek stores that I've been in. If it hadn't been for people constantly posting Gurren Lagann fan art on Tumblr and Deviant Art I wouldn't have been convinced to watch the anime but I'm definitely glad I decided to check it out.

It DID air on SyFy Channel...

First off: Gurren Lagann was picked up by the Sci-fi channel. Twice. The second time the entire anime block rested on the success of it. Luckily it still did well enough to continue for a few more months.

Second of all: TTGL is actually a pretty popular series here in the west (and for good reason, too, it's actually a pretty incredible show from start to finish). In fact it's one of the few Giant Robot series that's still popular in the west, along with Evangelion and Code Geass. All you have to do is go online and you'll find tons of merchandise for it.

I'm definitely liking Gurren Lagann and FLCL along with the anime Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. But what happened to the anime block on SyFy channel? Did it go off the air? I mean I haven't seen it.
