Forgot that I've got Haibane Renmei. Really good, as is Bamboo Blade. Bamboo Blade is kinda warm and fuzzy, whereas Haibane Renmei has a satisfying slight darkness to it, from memory. Only watched it through once though.

Netflix is what got me back into anime again! I've recently watched Death Note Claymore and Samurai Champloo! Plenty of other really good stuff there.

Just out of curiousity, which Kanon did you watch, the 2002 or the 2006 one?

And I'm currently watching Angel Beats, which I never actually finished before. I'm halfway in and so far it's hitting all the right notes (though episode 6 felt a little rushed) - the art and music are exceptional, and the story has just the right mix of comedy and heart-wrenching drama. I love it so much, and I can't wait to see more.

don't watch Air, it sucks

I'm quite fond of Air, actually. What didn't you like about it?

the characters were mostly unrelatable. Partially because of being generic, boring moe characters half the time and partially because of the god awful "poetic" dialogue that would never be said by any human being. The entire point of the series is to make you feel depressed and sympathize with the characters, but I'm only depressed in an "I don't care" sort of way, which I didn't believe was possible. I have other problems but what I just said basically kills the entire series. I mean, there's some good stuff, like the past episodes, the main 2 characters at times, AND THAT DOG.

Most of my friends who like these type of series agree this sucks and the other series like it are much better though. Honestly, I want to see a compare and contrast with Welcome to the NHK! as it would be a great lesson in writing for everyone who reads it.

@TokyoRed That image isn't from an anime. However, the character in that image is one of Gurren Lagann's main protagonists.

Just saw the Trigun movie and Summer Wars. Both movies are now some of my favorites this year. And now I'm getting set to watch The Gilr Who Leapt Through Time and the Revolutionary Girl Utena Movie. Yay?

Also, does anyone know of a good place to watch, download, or buy Digimon season 1? My nostalgia rush is overtaking me and I want to see the series again :3

Youtube would be your best bet, although you may want to type "Digimon Adventure episode 1" since in Japan Digimon Adventure was the name of the first season.

Well I'm partway through DeathNote. Because it's subtitled I was slow to get into it, but now I just keep watching and watching to see what's next. Good show.
