@Mickeymac, thanks for filling me in on the blanks man!
I'm definitely liking Gurren Lagann and FLCL along with the anime Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. But what happened to the anime block on SyFy channel? Did it go off the air? I mean I haven't seen it.
Yeah, it went off the air in June, unfortunately. Most of the stuff they showed was crap, but they had some good stuff mixed in, too. And FLCL is a classic, as anyone'll tell ya. The music especially is great. I'm surprised to hear Horizon is any good. I remember it being largely ignored on the anime forums I visited.
I was actually appalled by the rental prices on PSN for each movie, but after seeing that...I think it might actually be generous.
Anyways, apparently they're movies to look out for, especially if you're fans of Melty Blood or the Fate series, since it's by the same company that made the original games. Since I am a fan of those games, I'll be checking them out pretty soon.
Ohh yeahh....The Garden of Sinners Boxset is delicious. My old roomie was crazy enough to buy it new for $400, but I was lucky enough to watch them and pretend I owned the deliciousness.

@Mickeymac, Yes, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere is definitely an alright anime but it could be better if didn't go through all the contemporary anime stereotypical gyrations of bummed out sexual innuendo and jiggly boobs with busty girl bottoms in the viewers face stuff. I mean, the storyline is good but sometimes the show simply falls flat with lame duck jokes but at other times the show soars with great moral punchlines and seriously hilarious humor. So on a scale of 1 to 10 I give Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere an 8.
The anime that I give the perfect ten is the new Un-Go which is about a teenage detective with a boy to woman transforming sidekick. That is a definite 'gotta watch' anime.
Another good anime that I am glad I decided to give a chance is the Naruto Shippuden. I had rubbed it off because I thought that it would no longer be 'cool' now that Sasuke Uchiha was gone to the dark side but I'm finding that Naruto Shippuden is actually turning things a bit and I'm loving the flow of the show.
One last but not least on my list is 'The Archives of Dantalia' and I hope you guys will check it out as it's about a mystical girl from within the pages of a book.

Or you could, you know, watch Detective Conan or Ramna 1/2...sure they may not be the best of both worlds, but at least they've proved themselves to be good.
this should be a requirement for all anime fans to at least try the series (the insane length is the only reason I don't say "watch the entire series")
I've been meaning to start Detective Conan for years now. I know it's good from manga chapters I've read, but the giant number of episodes in the anime turns me off. Especially considering it's still on going, right? I'm going to put aside time to watch at least 5 episodes. I also still have to catch up on the final season of Shakugan no Shana. I've been gone from anime for the longest time now. I should take a break from all the games.

yeah, if you ever decide to really get into the series beyond a few episodes, I can help you skip the filler, which should be at least 1/4 of the episodes. I know this stuff and what's important and good and what isn't. It's worth it regardless but I understand why people wouldn't get into a series as long as Conan.
I was getting fed up with all the filler in Naruto and when I found a filler guide, I was shocked to find that episodes 143-219 are all fillers. Before I watch the last episode and then move onto Shippuden, are there any of those fillers worth watching?

there were a few good ones.
First of all, everything after 135 is filler, the only exceptions are certain parts of the first 2 filler arcs and the last few minutes of 220.
I'd personally suggest watching: 143-147, 169-173, 197-201, 203-207 and 216-220. There's a couple other good ones but those are the ones that even try to be relevent to any character or story development and they are good stories. Especially 203-207 which you will love if you like watching all the leaf genin ninja teams working together.

Actually, that'd be great incase I get hooked and do a 10 episode marathon like with Death Note. Although if any fillers are genuinely good I wouldn't mind watching them.

I disagree with Bleach and NGE, despite actually enjoying those shows. They're both too obviously flawed, with Bleach having too many to count. I've never seen My-Hime, though. Unfortunately, it's a magical girl show, so I may never see it.

It's an anime I've watched more than once, so it must have something going for it. What I don't like is the dub and the look of some of the characters. Sometimes they look like bad Flash animations. It's got something though.
Why does Star Ocean EX end at the halfway point of the story from the game it's derived from "Star Ocean The Second Story"?
Once again, Wikipedia holds the answers. Apparantly it was based on a manga version that was never finished, and the story was concluded in a set of drama CDs, which were never translated.
