hey, i just finished watching Claymore, and i love every minute of it. However i cant seem to find a good replacement for it now, any suggestions?
First off, read the Claymore manga. It fixes the ending.
What was it you liked about Claymore? As in what themes, elements, etc.? If it's the medievel theme and the action I can think of tons to recommend you. If it's the story and characters you'll have to get more specific.
Yes i am reading the manga from the begining, although i didnt think the ending was that bad. i liked the action sequences the best, but also the fact that it had a erie storyline to it. plus it stuck to the storyling for the most part without any drastic jumps. Thereasa was my favorite character, just her attitude and how she developed in such a short time was cool to me, i rewatched those 4 episodes a few times just because of how cool she was. but mostly it was probally the whole erieness of the story, it was dark but not horrific

Then you'll like Berserk. That was the one I wanted to recommend all along, since they both share the dark tones and awesome action sequences. Though again, you might be better off reading the manga since they screwed up the ending here, too. Blood is also another good one to try.

Black Star is a bit brash and knuckleheaded like Naruto at times but his quirky, childish antics are balanced nicely by the innocent, dainty and sweet personality of Tsubaki. That new fellow, Kid Death coming up in the third episode of Soul Eater reminds me of Shadow The Hedgehog while his double girl reminds me of Triplicate Girl from Legion of Super Heroes.
All in all, Soul Eater is a great show. In fact, it is even more exciting than the manga.
I love Soul Eater. I've never seen a full episode of the anime though. I've only read the mangas, but it's pretty similar in the beginning anyways. I heard it differs from the anime near the end and that the manga has the better story line. Black * Star is my favorite character in Soul Eater. He gets annoying, but he's so enthusiastic, energetic, and brave I just can't help but love him. He's got some really funny moments in the show too. I never really thought of him similar to Naruto, but now that you mention it I can see it. Death the Kid is a very awesome character too. I love his whole symmetrical thing. It gets annoying as the show goes on too but at least it develops his character. He's got some really fun and cool fights.
I sadly still haven't started Gurren Laggan. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I seriously procrastinate when it comes to watch anime or reading manga...
A new Robotech should come to Cartoon Network and then a Wii game. If you haven't played Robotech Battlecry for GCN, then you should because it is really fun.

They already made a new RoboTech, albeit a movie. If you're interested in Macross, though, they've made a bajillion of those.

As you mentioned, Blood+ is an excellent choice. Berserk, as mentioned, as well - similar setting, although a lot more "out there". On the gory side of things, Elfen Lied. Finally, Ga-Rei Zero has excellent character development with female leads.
@ Mickeymac: When it comes to calm comedies, I think of stuff like Lucky Star, Minami-Ke and K-On.
Azumanga Daioh is one of my favourite comedies, but it might be too crazy for you...?

thanks, i think i might stay away from anything to gory though, as my brother watches with me sometimes. maybe ill find a separate one for him though, as even claymore was a bit much for him, my mom freaked when she was walking by and somebody had a gaping hole in their stomach and coughing up blood, ya i think ill look for a separate one for sure! thanks guys for the fast responses too!

Well, all of them have blood up to a certain extent, but then again you did ask for something similar to Claymore Blood+ is probably your safest bet, with (mostly) clearly defined bad guys. There's quite a bit of messed up psychological elements in the others. (Then again, there's a bit of that in Claymore too.)
ya, i didnt really want my brother to start watching with me, he just sorta joined a few episodes in, i dont mind gore or psychological stuff at all. ill just kick my brother out whenever im watching it
actually i kinda like it when it messes with your brain and gets in your head, i guess i better find some time this weekend to try out all these ideas!

I was actually pretty bored when I watched the first episode of it, but then again, it was probably just a bad first episode. Same thing with Lucky Star. K-On's dub isn't available for streaming yet, so that's out.
EDIT:
And 4th times the charm. Minami-Ke was really good, just what I was looking for. The pacing was right (for once), as were the introductions of the characters. I can't wait to watch more. Thank you, Tealovertoma.

In the preview Hulu has of episode III I could really tell that Kid Death had some seriously impressive and at the same time very his battles seemed dramatic but I don't think anything can top the quirky sweetness of the combination of Tsubaki and Black Star. Black Star is really quirky, silly, smart and determined while Tsubaki is humble, meek and sweet along with totally innocent which makes her take my cake. I also like Soul and Maka but sometimes Soul's antics are Johnny Depp-ish that I can't even see how he'll become a Death Scythe although I hope he doesn't become one soon as I want the show be kind of long like Naruto or One Piece.
BTW have any of you guys been watching Spice and Wolf and Jing King Seventh Heaven? The latter is REALLY weird in my opinion but I'm still watching it nonetheless.

I'll just mention that Spice & Wolf is popular on the forums I visit. I'm not sure if anyone here has seen it, but I'll probably get around to it eventually. I'm just not big on romance, but it seems like it could be enjoyable.
That new PS3/PSVita game Malicious looks as if it should have it's own manga and anime. Hopefully, it will get an anime adaption as I like the idea of nano organism weapon capes. It was a great idea in NBC's The Cape and it would be great in anime to.

I've seen Spice & Wolf. There are some romantic undertones but I wouldn't call it a romance show at all, really, it's more adventure/fantasy-meets-economics/trading. Sounds boring, but it's not (it does have a steady, somewhat slow pace though). Character development is very solid, even that of side-characters.. I gave it an 8. I love myself some traveling anime though (Mushi-Shi, Kino no Tabi are among my favourites.)
@mickeymac: Glad you like it. I've not seen them yet, but have you checked out Genshiken and Gintama? Supposedly those are really funny too. Additionally, there are plenty of slower-paced anime out there with comedy on the side, rather than as main ingredient.
I think I was a tad unfair on Nabari No Ou. I watched the first 14 eps again to refresh myself on it (got the second 14 to watch) and... well, it's still decidedly sluggishly paced and lacking in action - that 14 episodes in, an anime about ninjas has yet to see much in the way of bloodshed (much less death) is good enough indication of that - but it's by no means bad. I'd have to recommend it to ninja fans. It's got a decent conspiracy to it as well, albeit a little transparant (it's pretty easy to know who the real 'heroes' and 'villains' are by episode 10). Series 1 Part 1 is now on my re-review pile for when Chopsticks gets its overhaul and relaunch. It won't get much higher, but maybe a point or two extra.
I am now allowed to say that I own Summer Wars. I'll probably be having TONS of nostalgic flashbacks to Digimon - The Movie from what I've heard, so that's a possible plus.
EDIT: I just got done watching it and DAMN is Summer Wars amazing! This is now one of my favorite movies of all time! I swear to god I will NEVER get rid of this movie. Ever.

@Mickeymac, that Space Runaway Ideon was exceptional. I truly enjoyed watching that. It reminds me of Captain Harlock and Speed Racer.
Today, I watched the first and second episodes of Blue Exorcist and I've got to admit that I was blown away at the shear epicness of it all. Blue Exorcist is the best new anime since Stan Lee's Heroman. I certainly wish and hope that they'll do a English dubb for Blue Exorcist soon. It was amazing seeing Priest Fujimoto using Scripture and quoting the Psalms in his battle against the demons. That show takes the cake man.
