Funniest episode I've ever seen. Question is, what else is out there that's as good as FMP? Any suggestions? Anything possibly better? I regard FMP very highly indeed!!

Um, there are like a million things better than FMP. It's good but nothing amazing in any way, shape or form.

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

think I'm one of only a few people that don't know what FMP is. Can someone elaborate?

I think they're talking about Full Metal Panic. Not seen it though, so could be wrong.

Yes, Full Metal Panic. I love Sagara's ultra-serious deadpan personality. Cracks me up every time

@SigourneyBeaver

What else have you watched? Believe me, I love Full Metal Panic, but there are plenty of series' out there that are just as good as it. Have you watched Macross? It's a bit old, but essential watching, especially if you like mecha.

Also EVERYONE needs to watch Fullmetal Alchemist! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH.
If you like good characterization and don't mind a convoluted plot, you'll like the original series. If you want a more straightforward shounen anime, Brotherhood would be better. If you like one, watch the other. Srsly.

I've got a fair bit of anime, different types but my fave is FMP. Other stuff I like is

Evangelion
Azmanga daioh
Martian successor nadesico
Fate stay night ( another fave)
Code geass
Mai hime
Ghost in the shell sac ( not watched yet)
009-1
Noir
She the ultimate weapon
This ugly yet beautiful world
Tenjho tenge
Love hina (thought I'd like it but I don't)
Haibane renmai
Serial experiments lain
Generator gawl
Aquarian age

There's a few more that I can't remember now as they're on my ps3. Love the comedy ones like fmp and nadesico though.

Any other guys here who love Card Captor Sakura.? ._. ...

@Cryptonic I think there was one, but it's long gone buried under a bunch of other threads now. (if there isn't one I must be thinking of the book thread.)

Cardcaptor Sakura is a classic, though I haven't seen it in years. It has a surprisingly deep story to it.

Also, last I checked, we're allowed to talk about Manga here. It's just that no one ever does.

Anyways, I ended up going with Eureka Seven, but then my internet went out, so I watched FullMetal Alchemist and Gundam X until the cable guy came and got us a new modem. Now that we have internet, I feel like watching Escaflowne.

Anyways, impressions:

Eureka Seven is slooooow. But good. The world is very unique and the characters are great - they're all quirky and never quite cliche. It's very character focused for a Mecha anime, which in this case works.

FullMetal Alchemist is really good so far. It's very episodic so far, and each little story hits just the right notes, so to speak. It's got just the right mix of comedy and sorrow, action and intrigue - no one aspect overpowers the other. The characters and voice acting are also great, but that goes without saying.

Gundam X has really hit the spot, especially with the Fort Seven arc. It seems to have more of a Love/adventure story feel to it, and it really works for me. I especially love the post-apocalyptic setting, it really makes for an interesting world. The only think I don't like are the mech designs. They aren't bad, but they come off as weird versions of mobile suits from other series. They're still not as bad as the bug 'suits from Victory Gundam or those monstrocities in Turn A Gundam, and I'm getting used to them, but I can't say I like them.

I'll edit in my impressions of Escaflowne later.

I haven't watched anime in so long! D: Ok,it's been about a month, maybe more. If anyone was keeping up with Fairy Tail and Digimon Xros wars can you tell me how many episodes I missed? I'm planning I getting caught up soon. Maybe after I beat OOT 3D.

@MickeyMac FMA FMA FMA FMA!

depends on how many episodes you have seen there are currently 84 episodes of Fairy Tail not sure about Digimon Xros though

84!? D: I was on 60 something last time I checked. Oh man I got a lot to catch up on...I'll do it later. I'm going to finish OOt 3D before I watch more anime and re-watch CCS when I am done.

Just watched Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22. Phenomenal films both, and I'm not usually a mecha fan. Already mad hyped for Eva 3. Was about to start watching XAM'D Lost Memories, but got entirely distracted by its Boom Boom Satellites theme and ended up rocking out to that instead before Top Gear starts.

All in all, not a bad Sunday

Glad you enjoyed Evangelion, Sushi. I haven't watched the movies yet, but the series it's based on is one of my favorites.

Ah yes, Escaflowne impressions:

It's alright so far. The story has some interesting twists to it and I kinda like the characters, but I'm 12 episodes in and it hasn't quite grabbed me yet. The next episode looks really good, though. Did I mention that the action is very sparse? They save it all for the end of every other episode. That's worse than Eureka Seven! Again, Episode 13 looks like it'll be action-packed, though.

And speaking of Eureka Seven, I'm just gonna drop that show. I've never been more bored watching a Giant Robot show. In fact, I don't think there's another Giant Robot show that I can label as boring. Barely anything happened in 3 of the 6 episodes I watched. It seriously feels stretched out. And this is coming from my memory of when I watched it on Adult Swim, which I got about halfway through before dropping. It always bored me up until the end of every episode when something would finally happen. I can't take that. I know story and characters are important, but I watch Mecha to see giant robots kill eachother. And you know what? Every other mecha show I've seen has had a good mix of story and action, which Eureka Seven seems to lack. It's seriously the slowest mecha show ever and I hope I'm never proven wrong about that. (of course, there's always Turn A Gundam...) I'll likely pick it up again in the future, just because I'm persistant like that, and if I do, I'll likely be skipping roughly half the episodes, something I hate doing.

The order is now After War Gundam X, followed by FullMetal Alchemist, then The Vision of Escaflowne. That'll be all the anime I'll be watching for the rest of June and July. In August, I'll be watching Victory Gundam, RahXephon, and Dual: Parallel Trouble Adventures, as recommended to me by Tech101 last year (Man I miss that guy). If I have time either month I'll try to fit in Eto Rangers, marking the beginning of my Shaft Marathon, where I'll watch at least one select Shaft show a month until next Summer, when I'll marathon the rest of the good ones, ending with Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

The reason I chose Shaft was because the other two companies I greatly respect are Gainax and Aniplex. Aniplex has way too many shows to keep up with, while I've already watched most, if not all of Gainax's good shows, and the remaining ones include crap like Pretty Cure and He Is My Master. Plus it gives me an excuse to finally finish Eto Rangers, one of the shows that got me into anime, and Dance in the Vampire Bund (does that title sound sexual to anybody else or am I going crazy?), a show which I've taken great interest in thanks to the opening...song. Yes, song.O_O

I'm already writing down anime that I should watch in the Fall, including D.N.Angel, Shakugan no Shana, and To Aru Majutsu no Index. I'm back, baby!

So, I watched the first two episodes of Wandering Son and...well...it's definitely different. I'm not sure if I'll follow through with the series mostly because it's difficult to tell each character apart since they have no real defining traits and the characters themselves are introduced to the point that you didn't realize that they were introduced.

The only episode I've got left to watch of TMoHS is season 2 episode 14 and I was wondering if anyone knew if the movie called The dissapearance of haruhi Suzumiya has been dubbed yet? If it has should I go back and watch the series in chronological order first? Also, I wish the DVD of the streamlined version of Akira that I ordered just over a week ago would hurry up as it looks really good and I've heard so much praise for it, amazon are normally really quick, so I wonder why its taking this long.

^Ugh, took me forever to figure out that acronym.

I'm really excited for the Gundam called Gundam AGES that's coming out in the fall! I hope it gets a simulcast in the U.S. at least. Even if it doesn't, I know other ways to keep on top of the series.

But I'm even more excited for Gundam: The Origin. I read some of the Manga version and it was pretty good. It'll be like the HD remake I've always wanted! Too bad they haven't given even a tenative date yet.

Also gundam related, I hope they announce when the new episode of Unicorn Gundam comes out soon. I really want to watch more of that.

@Mickeymac Sorry, I thought it would be obvious as I mentioned the Haruhi Suzumiya movie in the same sentence. I'll remember not to use acronyms like that if their not so well-known or obvious in the future.
