It seems to be fixed by installing an ad blocker, but before I did a fake malware alert from McAfee would pop up after a few seconds.

@blindsquarel something like that seems to be happening a bit on this site to users I’ve encountered too I had something similar to this pop-up for me earlier just today actually
Earlier my router automatically redirected me away from NL to a site saying something about a blocked phishing scam, which I assume was an advertisement

@blindsquarel @DiamondCore Thanks — I'm aware of some rogue advert providers causing some redirects, which isn't good. I've reported them to our ad partners who are looking into it and trying to get them blocked ASAP. It happens from time to time unfortunately but doesn't compromise the security of the site. They will be squashed ASAP!

@Kermit1 thanks for sharing — I've done a little bit of research myself as Temu does crop up as an advertiser across all of our sites from time to time. I've never bought anything from them myself, but reading around they are legit and their prices are low due to them being sold directly from suppliers in China. As for the data collection, it seems the general consensus is that they aren't doing things that different from other big online retailers (eg Amazon), although you can certainly argue they are trying to collect a lot of data for customer profiling (and no doubt targeted adverts). Whether there is anything more sinister than that, the jury is out.

With that in mind, I'd want to see more evidence of wrongdoing before saying you can't post links there — it seems like you'll get what you pay for, ie cheap Chinese-origin goods.

@antdickens I have I ordered stuff from Temu and that's exactly it you get what you pay for. They are like a step above Wish.

As for containing Spyware I run scans on my stuff and never found anything wrong with them. That video is just propaganda and basic is oh its a Chinese business they must be up to no good paranoia b.s.

I guess some people just automatically assume someone are up to.something just because.

I just wanted to pop in here for a quick bit to ask a question regarding reader letters as I just want something clarified for me.

So I just submitted a reader letter today (spurred on by today's article) and the process pretty much went something like this:

  • I finished typing the letter
  • I hit 'Send Message'
  • the page refreshes
  • then the page loads with the letter still there

This is how the submission process is meant to go, isn't it? I just want to make sure as this is the first time I've properly submitted a letter in a while and there wasn't any visual confirmation that the letter had gone through. Doesn't really bother me either way but I'd just like a bit of clarification regarding it if possible!

@antdickens I haven't sent it again since, let me try it again. Also yep: no error message came up whatsoever.

EDIT: just resubmitted it there and I finally got a confirmation message stating that it went through, alongside it redirecting me back to the article regarding it. Seems like it must've just been a temporary glitch!

Maybe this has been discussed before on this thread, but one thing bugs me about the pages dedicated to specific games, such as this one:

https://www.nintendolife.com/games/nintendo-switch/legend_of_...

All of these pages have the section "News" for NL articles about that game, which is nice... Except that the section only shows the 10 latest articles, with no way to browse older articles. For example, I wanted to read an article that I remembered seeing here this summer about Tears of the Kingdom, but I couldn't remember the name of the the text, so it was hard to find it via the search function. And since it was an older article, obviously it didn't show among the 10 latest articles in the "News" section either.

So would it possible to add an "see more" link at the end of the "News" section which would allow you to browse all articles about that game? I seem to recall the "News" section had such a link in the past, but maybe I misremember?

It's a tiny thing, but as a user with an active Support status and adverts turned off, I noticed that forum topics that display at least 11 or 12 posts on a page will still display an empty section for an advert after the 11th post.

<div class="forum-post for-desktop"><div class="insert centered for-desktop lazyload"><div id="NL_MID_X" data-ghost-zone="" data-dfp-id="NL_MID_X" data-dfp-sizes="728x90" class="lazyload"></div>
</div></div>

I visit Nintendo Life with uBlock disabled now, but uBlock appears to know to hide this section.

Edit: Oh, and I get pre-formatted tags should probably word-wrap text.
