Its not that good, its emulated so there is slow down and sound glitches and the graphics look squished a bit. Its playable, but it makes you wish you were playing a better port.
Yeah, I wish I had waited on some reviews. It's decent, but not decent enough to spend $30 on. Sega really should've put some more work into this to build some goodwill up before Sonic 4 releases.
I don't know. Getting Mega Collection is much cheaper and you get more content.

Yeah, after seeing some reviews and etc, I wouldn't bother getting this. It's just the first games, with graphical downscale (quite badly, lots of 'squashed pixels') and slowdown issues. Don't expect any extra content. Hell, there's actually less content - they're missing their multiplayer modes. I'm gonna grab the VC versions sometime.
Yeah - its almost like the 50HZ versions, now you can all enjoy squished graphics and slow gameplay
Seriously, I agree with you guys, got it first day and its a pretty cheap effort by SEGA. Sonics 2 and 3 seem to run better than the first -
Having the Saturn Sonic Jam music on the menu is a bit insulting as there was an example of a compilation that SEGA put some effort into, I think it was reprogrammed rather than emulated, perfect sound effects, music ran off the CD and you could spin dash in Sonic 1 - even implemented 'easy' versions of the games with different object placement and saving on all titles. Japanese disc is also pretty cool looking as has Sonic's face printed across it.
Usual contemporary SEGA situation, could do better!
