NEW DETAILS

The Sega website has updated, the screenshots let us confirm a couple of things:

  • The games play out on the top screen whilst the touchscreen shows a brief blurb about the game, and load/save/pause/quit buttons (yawn)
  • The games feature lock on support - the second screenshot shows Knuckles In Sonic 2 and the third shows Sonic 3 & Knuckles. EXCELLENT.

The screenshot in the first post showing Sonic & Knuckles facing Eggrobo together has vanished, which is a tad concerning, maybe co-op isn't in after all. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Ugh, I don't want save anywhere, I want actual progress saving with a world map. This is just lazy, Sega.

Now very much leaning towards getting these on VC instead.

Well you don't HAVE to save anywhere, silly. This isn't Sega being lazy. This is Sega giving people who are lazy the option to save wherever they want, instead of the real way.

I just got this and I have to say I'm not very impressed...
Very lazy presentation and the games themselves aren't emulated very well. It's playable but... not what I was expecting. The special stages in Sonic 3 for example now give me a sore head because of the jumpy frame rate. Also the graphics look squished and the sound is weird.
edit: Add to that a considerable amount of slow-down that wasn't in the VC versions.

Yeah, ONM's review says pretty much the same thing. But I'm willing to give it a bash simply because I'd rather spend my wii points on games I can't get on the DS.

As the sun is sure to rise, so is a new Sonic collection seemingly every six months.

I am the one you despise. I am he who says what you really deep down know but are affraid to admit. I am the Anti-Fanboy, the crusader of truth in a world built on your lies.

Outrunner

It just feels as if no effort was put into it.

OMG, a lazy and unpolished Sonic effort? What happened to you, Sega, that you can't even do a port?

Hooray for Genesis ownership!

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I already own Sonics Ultimate Genesis Collection for my PS3, so I wasn't chomping at the bit for this game...but it would be fun to take them on the go. It's a shame all the reviews are saying the presentation is rubbish (especially in the audio/visual department). However, My love for the original Sonic games runs deep through my nostalgic-crusted veins, so if I saw this drop to $20 or less in a few months...I'll probably pick it up.

Its not that good, its emulated so there is slow down and sound glitches and the graphics look squished a bit. Its playable, but it makes you wish you were playing a better port.

There goes my hopes.

But it CAN'T be as bad as Sonic Genesis for the GBA

Does everybody think that Sonic Rush Adventure is good? I heard good things about it, but only played the original Sonic Rush. I may just pick up SRA, and steer way clear of SCC if it isn't dirt cheap.

@suburban_sensei It's very different than the first game in general and there's more of a focus on the iffy ocean traveling parts. Definitely see someone play the first two hours in order to see what it's like.

Sonic Rush Adventure's good, yeah. Unfortunately it suffers from quite a bit of the "hold right and press jump when you run into a wall" flaw, but it's still an enjoyable game.

I've played both. They are essentially the same, except that Adventure has a water theme. I personally prefer the first game, but the second one is still pretty good.
