@TobuKatsu all thats required really is basic arithmetic and a little bit of algebra sprinkled on top. Of course you can also go deeper, do more complicated things, shorten full eqations and eliminate variables with tiny little functions. How far you want to take it is really up to you. You can do the most advanced things with simple maths.
@TobuKatsu I'd say the basic elementary math, simple algebra, and for asvanced games, a basic understanding of trigonometry. I'm sure that Discostew could answer this question better. The most math I've seen in a game is trigonometry (sine, cosine, etc.) and calculus, but the most I've ever had to use was algebra.

How about this crazy idea? Black Ops 2 as an FPS using the raycasting engine. Someone please explain how I would modify the raycasting engine. Also, how would I do AI pathfinding?
@bigdog00 Where do I download the original raycastting engine? @Randomous I keep getting virus messages when I go to petit computer wiki. One looks like a Windows security alert but it is part of a blank web page. Anyways, thats why I stay on this site. REPOST: I placed a platform game sample on the qr code page.
@TexMurphy Hmm, I have no idea what's causing it. I'm not an admin on the Wiki anymore, so I don't have control over all that stuff. One of the admins probably put a silly script on the page that looks malicious, but it's probably not.
And I think it is very possible (just like minecraft DS was possible with the raycasting engine).
I don't think it's very viable to use the raycaster engine to make any games that require more than 10 fps, I mean, you could make it work but that doesn't mean it will be much fun to play with for more than some minutes. At least not in the current version of petit computer.
Feel free to use it if you want. It's not really all that great (there's no word wrap yet, and it uses an entire BG layer), but maybe someone can find a use for it. If you just run the example program, you'll see what it does. Use up and down to scroll, hold L or R to scroll faster, and press A to close the scrollbox. There are two examples in the program.
As a side note: I'm sorry if anybody's already made this. Ever since I made the scrolling credits, I wanted to see how hard/easy it would be to use the BG to scroll instead of the GRP. I'd definitely say using the BG is easier, but it unfortunately uses up a valuable resource.

I had downloaded it a while ago, and was thinking that I could turn it into an FPS. I think that using sprites (I don't fully understand using the graphic layer for sprites yet) would be more efficient than using the graphic layer 0 anyway. I could do it, and that way I could make the weapons spray and be pretty realistic. I need to understand the raycasting engine better, so that I could offset the bot sprites properly. I also would have to calculate the trajectory of the grenades and bullets (which would be easy (the bullets anyway)) Thanks!
Real quick question. I just posted a PTC wiki page about my black ops 2 project (that I am working on right now) and was wondering how to set sprites that are 4x4. I don't get setting irregularly sized sprites. please help and thanks!
(Got it, nevermind.)
@TexMurphy I'm sorry, that's just too hard and obscure to be worth it. It uses an entirely different deck that I've never seen before, the rules are complicated, and I've never played it before, so it makes it even harder. I'd have to write almost an entirely new engine, and that doesn't even include the part where I use the new card engine to write the game.
It may be because I was very bored the last few days, but I actually advanced a lot in Petit Forest. The game now saves and loads properly and the things advance with real days, like in my previous game, but it takes less time to grow stuff this time around.
I think the game may be done by Valentine's day but I need an opinion with something:
Right now, I have three different graphical styles for the forest in three different files and an item that serves to switch between them (the magic wand).
I think scanning two extra sets of QR codes just for that would be a bother though, so I was thinking, what if I make them optional (give them all the same file name and let the user to choose which one to scan) and repurpose the in-game object to change the character instead? (Not everyone wants to play as a skeleton, I'd think, there are already four skins available but no way to change the one you have).
@Moorpheel Why not just package all the stuff together? Do you need some help doing that?
I considered asking you that, but to be honest, I kinda want to leave them as free, editable sources. That way the user can create its own items and textures easily by drawing on top of the default ones.
The main game would get bigger too. And small updates would be a hassle to scan.
