Has anyone checked the DSiWare shop lately? Currently, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again is selling at a higher rate than both the Nintendo DSi Browser and Flipnote Studio, both of which are FREE!! Thats right, more people are downloading an 8 dollar game than the 2 free items on the shop. People must really love Mario I guess
I'm not surprised. There's probably a few people who, with their Nintendo Points cards from X-mas and have already DL'd Flipnote and the Browser, are now getting around to getting MMA than those who got new DSis for X-mas and are getting the Browser and Flipnote at this moment. Or a bunch of people can't read subtitles properly and think they're buying Miniland Mayhem instead.
I know on the DSi XL the browser and Flipnote Studio were pre-installed. That would throw off those numbers. When we go to the shop channel it already says downloaded.
I also got Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again.
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
It's comfort food for sure, and - though I haven't opened the store in a couple weeks - Nintendo kept MvDK on the 'splash page' for many weeks after its release. I think it has since been surpassed in the "big games" category and I'd rather have - and in fact do! - the new Mayham title in cart form. Still, shows how strong recognition is, I think, and may be a bounce from DKC Returns.
A lot of users have already downloaded the browser and the as Rob said, the XL comes pre-shipped with the browser installed. Since people will be shifting to the 3DS (or at least the number of regular DS units sold will slip down), we can expect the broswer to slowly fall off the chart.
Flipnote will probably stay on the charts longer, but I can't perceive why someone would want to use the DSi Browser over the 3DS browser.
