I applaud Gameloft to be honest.
Are their games good on DSiWare? Not really. Do they look pretty? Not really.
So why applaud them? Cause they are supporting DSiWare. What kind of a library would DSiWare have is they didn't support it. Puzzles and a few flying/adventure games.

Looking at them on the App store, they make some really beautiful and good games, so why suck crap on DSiWare?

Partly their fault yes, but I pretty much put all the blame on Nintendo. The set the retarded 20MB size limit, they have the final say in the pricing (I bet you anything Gameloft went to them with a 500 point price tag) and Nintendo is the company that doesn't give the same amount of freedom as the app store.

SURE there's less crap, but the ratio is about the same, there's just less stuff...ah I'm rambling.

I'm just surprised people bought a DSi and didn't expect dumbed down iPhone ports. In an industry out to make, you know, money, it seems like every gamer should have seen this coming a mile away.

@Hardy
Enough with the blaming Nintendo already. "Their service sucks" "Their pricing structure sucks" "They stole my lunch money". Must I groan every time read your posts. You have an opinion. Half the time I agree. It's just that you're becoming a broken record of Nintendo hate now. I know you said you still like Nintendo stuff, yet I'm seeing less and less of your posts that lead me to believe that. Say something cool about Nintendo sometimes will ya? You are part of a Nintendo fansite afterall.

Lastly sure Nintendo could up the size limit if you're willing to pay close to $300 for a handheld system. For talented developers size isn't an issue.

I meant up the size limit of the DSiWare games and not the flash memory, they could've done exactly what they did with the Wii with the SD card. Though I know why they haven't.
I only want an increase because on PSN store and App store there's awesome 3D games like Gangsta from Gameloft or Dragons Lair at a decent resolution because those games are allowed to be bigger than 20MB. That's all.

And I'll stop repeating myself about Nintendo's online system when they fix it. I complain because I care, not to annoy.

Also I don't know what to say about you noticing I've been posting less. I don't know if I should feel good about someone actually noticing me or be angry because you seem to enjoy me not being around. lol I feel loved in a hateful sort of way. That's why I love Nintendolife.

I've been posting less because for Christmas I got a touch, and because of that I've all but abandoned DSiWare. I still want it to be good and I'm still eyeing some games (Shantae and Nnooo games and what not) but yeah, I post less because I don't really use it anymore. App store blows it out of the water, now if only the touch would play flash.

Course maybe I have set my personal bar too high for Nintendo. Maybe I shouldn't expect them to do what is not the industry norm like consistent online, or a DLC service that isn't a pain to navigate and use... I dunno. lol
I don't blame everything on Nintendo just where it's due. If a third party game comes out and it blows I don't really blame Nintendo....Unless it's games like Ninjabread man.. Then I blame Nintendo for letting a company release a game like that at all. lol

I didn't mean actually posting "less" as much as I meant less positive posts. For example you used to posts quite a bit of "I'm looking forward to this" but now it's a lot more "Nintendo sucks at that" kind of stuff. I'm not saying your points don't hold water as many of them most certainly do. I'm glad you enjoy the App store. I personally need buttons for my gaming experiences or more precise input for my gaming on the go (though what's this I hear about iPad).

Yes inconsistent online a bummer. Like I said I'm not arguing your points. It's just that you tend to be more and more negative toward Nintendo. Yes, there is a lot of stuff they need to fix and the dsiware limitations are a bit much for third parties (though, I disagree, Gameloft could do MUCH better if they tried). Nintendo themselves make pretty good downloadables if they don't have the word "express" in the title. It would just be nice if you had a few less rant posts.

And yes, you should be flattered that I pay you that much attention LOL! Also is your name Hami on GoNintendo? You two seem to rant about the same things.

Yes I'm hami at GoNintendo.

Yes, I'm negative, and it's cool that you agree with me. lol
I would be positive but I just haven't been impressed with anything Nintendo has done... Well Nintendo of America. I think what NoE is doing with promoting their online system is AWESOME. I wish NoA would do it, but I honestly think Reggie is an idiot.
Marketers aren't good leaders for a gaming company, at least for the fans that is.
I don't agree with your comment on Nintendo though. Aside from a handful of good game, not great, good, the rest of their digital offerings have been garbage. To me.

I guess I should go back to this game. lol I just find it hard to say it's worth it when that 8 bucks can go to games that are probably a million times better. Generic RPGs on the DS is just Insta dead for me, especially when you can find games like FF III, IV and Chrono Trigger for 15 bucks in the bargain bin.

I got this this morning and it wasn't too bad... Oh wait. The story sucked, the graphics sucked, the gameplay sucked, the interface sucked and the sound sucked.

Gameloft is probably the developer that supports DSiWare the most but this, I think, is there worst game yet... except for maybe Castle of Magic. Stay away from this if all possible.

grumblegrumble

I'm really surprised that you guys dog Gameloft so much... I think they've made some pretty great games, and at least they are consistently creating games for the dsi. Maybe I'm not so graphics-minded since I'm probably one of few here who actually grew up with my Atari 7800 and original NES...? It's Nintendo themselves who I have a problem with, since they seem to truly play stupid with the outdated specs of their own hardware.

IGN says GET IT and the reviewer discusses its fun and fast pace when compared to other RPGs of it's ilk. I'm still waiting for a NLife review. I'm definitely looking into this game though. It also has additional features that weren't in the mobile version (take that hater hardy ).

I'm with Hardy, for the most part. There are some serious problems with how Nintendo (especially NoA) handles things, and I have been known to rant about certain aspects of that from time to time (NPC Pikmin 2, anyone?). And GameLoft is a pretty crappy company overall, with only a few exceptions (especially if, like me, you have no cell phone or App Store-supported device of any kind).

It may cost significantly more, but I'm quality-consious enough to save those 8 bucks towards hopefully getting a chance to pick up a copy of Nostalgia sometime soon-ish. All my interest in this title is officially dead.

And now for something completly different...lol.

I downloaded the game and I like it. Yes, it won't win any rpg of the year awards but few games do. If you like rpgs, especially action rpgs, you might like this. Just don't set your hopes too high.

The graphics are good; very old school NES/SNES like. Hmm. Although, the graphics do kind of remind me of a Sega Gensis rpg I downloaded once. Can't remember the name. lol.

Anyway, the gameplay can be a little repetitive, but most hack'n'slash games do get that way. I think what sets this apart from most hack'n'slash games is that its very fast-paced. I like that. You quickly go from one quest to the next. I doubt the game is very long, but it doesn't really need to be too long as long as its fun (and it is).

I also like how you can jump on things (including a trolls head), it uses the microphone for blowing out fires, and the item collection system is good (getting cool armor & etc for defeating monsters, plus going to shops. I also like how your armor changes when you put something different on). The menu system is simple and well done.

The story is nothing to write home about (least interesting aspect of the game), but the rest of the package is good imo. If you want some fast-paced, action rpg fun, then you should check it out imo. I think its worth $8. Not a full priced game for sure, but a fun game. Very old school. Hopefully we'll see more (and better) rpgs in the future. For now, I'm going to have fun with this game.

You do know a majority of their games are ports from the iPhone, right?

We don't hate gameloft for graphics. We hate them for the overall quality of most of their games. Yes, some are good, but a lot aren't.

Just let it happen.

Just to clarify my previous comments, I'm not saying that Castle of Magic was a bad game. It was a fun little diversion, but it was also just cheap feeling and low budget. So I don't hate Gameloft, I just don't applaud their taking game developed for a low quality system (i.e. mobile phones), cheaply tacking on camera functionality and send it to a more powerful system. I am especially disappointed here because I thought they were developing an original IP for DSi, but it turned out to be another port.

Where is this IGN review that you mentioned? I was interested in reading it but I cannot find it on their site. Do you happen to have a link?

This is the only review that I have found for this game so far: http://www.aussie-nintendo.com/reviews/21345/

I don't know, I'm hearing lots of mixed things about this game. I'm not going to get it, but I'm interested in what the NL review has to say about this.

This man is correct and if you disagree with him, it's because you are blinded by Nintendo love. Nintendo's downloadable game services are honestly terrible in comparison to everything else currently out there (even the also quite bad App Store) and ridiculous limitations and the inability for developers to price their own games is utterly outrageous.

It sounds like it would be worthwhile if it was a freeware game, or at least a tad cheaper than it is, but otherwise it seems like it wouldn't be worth my time and money.
