They shouldn't look blurry at all on the 1:1 mode. Small, maybe, but blurry not.

On the XL, when in 1:1 they look about the same size as on a normal DSi.

2D games tend to look worse on the 3ds when stretched out. But with polygonal games like the Zelda games, it's less bad.

@Meowpheel I guess I don't necessarily mean blurry, just as compared to a 3DS title it looks less clear.

When in 1:1 mode I still don't think NSMBDS looks as sharp as NSMB2.

I plan to play the physical carts of the DS games and if it's worth the $70 to pick up a used DSi XL I will, but if it doesn't really look better then nah.

I think I know what you mean, ds games in general look a tad darker on the 3ds.

Anyway, it's not a game breaking thing. I'm sure you'll enjoy the games just fine.
