Hi all. I was wondering whether I could get some game recommendations for my fiancee. She likes puzzle games such as the Professor Layton series (which she's completed all of) and Doctor Lautrec, and she thinks May's Mysteries is OK. She doesn't like the Phoenix Wright series though. She's after a good puzzle game like Layton or Lautrec. So, any ideas which puzzle game I could get her next?

She would also like a good platformer. Something like New Super Mario Bros, as she really enjoyed that game.

Thanks a lot in advance for any suggestions.

@wheatorules Henry hatsworth in the puzzling adventure (a match 3 puzzle game combined with an action platformer) or monster tale (minor pet-sim crossed with an metroid-vania style action platformer)are two that I can think of.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

Thanks for your response. I'll look into those games and see what she thinks. She's rather picky when it comes to games.

Have any of you played Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of Osborne House?

I have not played that game, sorry.

Hey there. Going on a trip and looking for a good RPG for my old DS Lite. Not looking for Zelda or Pokemon at the moment

I'll give some specifics of what I'm kind of craving, but I'm open to all RPG suggestions!

Ideally some kind of dungeon crawler with action combat. When I say action combat, I mean anything in which I'm swinging a sword or casting spells at things around me which are simultaneously fighting back. Preferably nothing turn-based.

Anyone?

The World Ends With You.

Bar none, this will be the most suggested title to you, and I honestly can't think of a better game for the DS. It's an action RPG with a wildly unique aesthetic and excellent story and character progression. Not really a dungeon crawl, but you're going to find a lot to love as far as action goes. You have two party members, and gameplay is separated between the two screens. You fight the same enemies, but on a different plane of existence. Both party members share a HP meter, and enemies share HP across screens. Comboing attacks between your partner and yourself will lead to serious damage boosts, and is a real focus in combat.

I haven't talked about the story much because there's spoilers abound and it's a great game to experience fresh. It's very Japanese, but it doesn't feel "anime". It's more "hip" than anything. If you loved the setting of, say, Jet Set Radio, I'm pretty sure you'll love The World Ends With You.

Jack of all trades, master of some

It looks awesome! Killer reviews, too. My local game shop doesn't seem to have it so I might have to turn to Amazon. Thanks for the recommendation.

I'd like to recommend Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon on DS

Was hooked on FE:Awakening for months on end last year and didn't think going back to the DS iteration would scratch that 2016fateswait itch but... hurrah! it's working a treat ^^ ... 1 week in and i'm still enjoying this immensely, quite different from FE:A but the core strategy is still there and a nice challenge even on Medium difficulty. It's quite fun to finally meet lore characters like Minerva, really puts some flesh on the bones of the FE:A storyline.

But enough of this... go try it yourselves

A few have said great things about Meteos. Is it really worth getting that game?

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

I would also like to know this I have never played it but am interested. The game is fairly cheap and has stellar reviews. Not to mention it is designed by Masahiro Sakurai.

Lunar Knights is a continuation of the Boktai series from the GBA, and it's a wonderful action RPG would recommend.

Has anyone ever played Jam With The Band? I always thought the games starring Barbara the Bat (who appears as a Brawl assist trophy and Mii Plaza Hat) were Japan only but yesterday I discovered that the deluxe version of the first game was also released in Europe. I love rhythm games. Is this as enjoyable experience as Elite Beat Agents, Osu Tatakae Ouendan and Rhythm Heaven/Paradise? It looks like it's only 10€ so I'll most likely buy it regardless but I wanted to hear about it before I buy it.

It's weird that there's a game from Nintendo that I've never heard anyone talk about. Might be because it was released 5 years ago and it was never released in NA.

Latest DS purchase Devil Survivor 1 and StarFox Command cards.
Hopefully I can find case/manual sets to complete them.
(I see a Devil Survivor 2 set on ebay but I think I have that one sealed already )

Recommending "Ganbare Goemon: Tōkai Dōchū Ōedo Tengu ri Kaeshi no Maki" for anyone who can get their hands on a copy of this game. A Japan only Mystical Ninja game for the DS from 2005! Language might be a barrier for some unless you can translate or read it yourself, but it's really fun and looks beautiful, and what I can get out of the text is amusing and humorous. It plays like an N64 Mystical Ninja but with many NES/SNES elements. Too bad they never brought this to the west...

I just got a copy of Solatorobo from my local gamestop yesterday (had to get it shipped from a store near Nashville); really enjoying it so far.

Someone recommended Golden Sun- Dark Dawn to me. Is it any good?

Reviving this, it is stickied after all

Got a 3DS for Christmas, and since I never owned a DS I've picked up a few second hand DS games. I recommend all of these:

Super Mario 64 DS - Nostalgia at its best if you ever played it as a kid on N64.
Worms Open Warfare 1 & 2 - Everything you love about Worms games, on a handheld game.
GTA Chinatown Wars - As good as GTA gets on DS graphics, and it's actually decent.
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land - Also mostly for nostalgia, but this is the best skate experience on DS.

Currently playing: Pokemon Y, Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 64 DS

Big Bang Mini is a really underrated 2D shooter where you use your styles to shoot fireworks into enemies. Very unique concept, aesthetics and gameplay.

Radiant Historia is a great turn based RPG with an unique grid system. Its plot involves time travel and it's pretty great. Soundtrack by Yoko Shimomura, you can instantly recognize it.

Galaxy Wars Galaxies is a twin stick shooter, except you use your stylus instead of a second stick.
There's a bit of slowdown here and there but it's still very playable.

The DS is one of the my favorite Nintendo consoles, for sure! Its library was huge both in quality and quantity and there's also quite a lot of hidden gems.

This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
