Is this an actual Yu-Gi-Oh game that follows the real game's rules? Or is it one of those silly RPG games where you slowly get more and more powerful cards?
Also, I've been out of the YuGiOh loop for years and years. I borrowed a deck and played a game with my friend only to lose in two turns to some crazy new mechanics -_-'
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
Yu-Gi-Oh!....
still can't get over the fact now there are cardgames in motorcycles.....

The game has an OFLC rating, for whatever that's worth. This implies an Australian release, which also implies a European release...either of which implies effort being poured into translating the game to English. This still doesn't account for North America obviously and it could be a mistake or a plan that never comes to fruition but it appears that someone somewhere is doing...something with the game in English.
It may come patched with what I think is a Japanese update which added Starter Deck 2014 and the new Pendulum mechanic. I don't know if it has regular updates for new packs as well, but we're definitely not getting the same game that was packaged in Japan. If we did, the game's card pool would be over a year outdated.
(As for the general card game Yugioh is, I believe, at its highest in popularity, at least in tournament attendance, in its history. So don't rip on it just yet.)
Guys, here in the EU and l purchased last week. There is so much content that was not used due to problems with localization. Played it for a bit but lacks any long term play due to no on-line play.
@arronishere There's a couple of things worth pointing out, the Japanese and western versions of the game have different content, the Japanese version is more complete, while the western versions got cut content:
-No voice acting
-Only 12 Playable characters(1 of them being the generic Konami guy) as opposed to the Japanese version that had 40 characters(Though you can still duel all of them in free duel).
-The generic story modes for the 40 characters was reduced to 11 too(Said 11, because I don't know if the Konami guy get's a story).
You can only edit the decks of the 12 playable characters, and battle your own decks, but you can't edit the other characters.
EDIT-Someone beat all 40 duelists in the Konami guy's storymode. and that apparently let's you edit the decks of everyone else, you still don't get to play the stories of the other characters, but at least you can edit everyone's deck.
-Missing some cards, like one of my all time favorites: Change of Heart. Giant Trunade, Snatch Steal, among others...
-Something every version shares: There's no multiplayer of any kind(No Local, No online).
-The game does not have you unlock cards, everything is unlocked from the start in Free Duel, however you are limited in story mode of the amount of cards for your character.
I'm still buying the game when it comes out in September in the US, but it's a bit ridiculous they expect people to pay full price for a game with cut content, especially when the game was already outdated in terms of the available cards, even when it came out in Japan.
Currently Pendulum monsters are all of the rage(From Yugioh Arc-V), but those aren't in this game.
I'm mostly buying it to try out the new cards, haven't really been keeping track of Yugioh after 5DS, though I've always been a fan of the card game. I understand the disappointment.
If you think about buying it anytime in the future, I'm pretty sure it'll get a price drop(Apparently it didn't even sell well in Japan, lol).
@arronishere I have an update regarding the deck edits for the characters with no story mode, you can edit their decks as well but only after you dueled all 40 of them in the Konami guy's story mode.
Just a bit of an update regarding that(Also updated my original post with the information), so it's not all bad
