Lastly, some titles like Fatal Frame Maiden of the Black Water had it's definitive edition on the Wii U as all ports lose the camera functionality of the gamepad. Fast Racing NEO I think is another one only on Wii U eshop.

Both have physical versions (at least in EU region) so they're not eshop exclusives.

Welll, that's that!!

I will try and get on and update the initial list in the coming weeks. Both with suggestions and possibly just by going through both exclusive pages on each console.

At least we have plenty of time to decide what we want to buy!

@ralphdibny I agree about being happy about more time. I'm just frustrated that it's only really 6 months that I can load money in my wallet.

Also, I adore your username. Ralph is the best!

Are the any Zelda-esque eshop titles (not virtual console) that I should investigate while I still can?

@ElRoberico haha cheers, yes he was 😥😂

Do you have a Switch? I could be wrong but I was under the impression that the Nintendo Wallet is shared between 3DS/Switch/Wii U so any funds you load into your Nintendo Account (as long as it's the same one across all 3 systems) would be available to use on the legacy consoles even after that August date but before the shutdown in March next year.

I may have misread the article but I thought they were only removing the ability to load eshop cards onto your Wii U/3DS directly in August. Should still be able to load funds into your wallet on Switch or through the website after that date and use the shared wallet to buy games from the Wii U/3DS.

I hope someone else can confirm that but this is how I understood it at least.

If that's the case, I'm esthatic! However, I'm going to get everything I really want before then just to be safe. I'll save stuff like the Dillon's Rolling Western sequels for then and other Vitrual Console stuff.

I am actually really confused now having re read some of those articles.

The eShop won't accept payment cards after May this year.... I thought that was already the case, in Europe at least. If I want to buy something on those systems then I have to add money through the Switch or the website...

eShop cards won't be accepted after August... Makes sense that they won't be accepted on 3DS and Wii U but won't it be possible to add them to your Switch or on the web page and then use them on Wii U?

Download codes can be used after this date... assuming this is when you buy game/DLC codes from third party sellers or from a "code in a box"

There doesn't seem to be any mention in the articles about adding funds to your Nintendo Wallet through the webpage or on the Switch which is how I currently do it. Bit confused really!

@ralphdibny The latest news pertains to North America. We're merely following suit with the rest of the world. I think it'll be possible to still add funds via the Switch and one's Nintendo account if they're linked to the Wii U and 3DS accounts.

@Tyranexx oh yeah of course it is, sometimes I forget to separate news from different regions!

Oh well, I'll do/buy what I can in the coming months anyway to be on the safe side. It's Gona be tough on my wallet but hopefully not too bad. I think I'm mainly quite keen on picking up some DS titles on Wii U so I can play them on the big screen.

I hope all is well with you!

@ralphdibny Yep, I'm gonna have to reevaluate my entertainment budget for the upcoming months lol. I've gradually picked up a title here and there over time, but needless to say this news is speeding up the process. Good news is there are only a small handful of games I still need on both platforms.

I hope all is well with you too! Things are pretty good on my end - heading out now for a long weekend trip.

@Tyranexx good stuff! I have quite the opposite planned for my weekend, looking forward to doing absolutely nothing after a long week at work. Especially after yesterday's Storm Eunice turned a 25 mile train commute (that ended up being cancelled) into an across the capital exodus using a combination of the London Underground and random buses 😅

I picked up Mario Kart DS on the VC a few weeks ago. It's probably one of the better games to play on the Wii U due to a simple screen set up and a standard button mapping. But it honestly and surprisingly looks amazing blown up onto a 55inch OLED TV! Even if it is quite pixelly 😅

@ralphdibny My kind of weekend! I prefer a low-key one from time to time. That does not sound like a fun exodus - sounds like you made it home in one piece at least!

I only have a 39" TV and have yet to play a DS VC entry, but now I'm curious enough to try it just to see how blown up it looks on the screen.

The North American version of Yokai Watch 3 is extremely rare and expensive. It makes more sense to download it now.

Has anyone played Crimson Shroud? Is it worth it if one likes 1. tabletop games and 2. RPGs? It's really the only other Level-5 Guild title I have more than a passing interest in outside of Attack of the Friday Monsters: A Tokyo Tale (Highly recommend this one if someone likes slice of life sims that ooze charm and have interesting, lighthearted twists) and maybe Weapon Shop De Omasse. (That last one needs listed @ralphdibny)

Also, I can still redeem a copy of Flipnote Studio 3D through My Nintendo. I personally have no interest in the application, but I'm willing to give the code out for free (as it only costs platinum points that'll expire anyway) if anyone is interested.

@Tyranexx I played Crimson Shroud when I was about 13 so I don't remember it too well but I really enjoyed it for the most part. One thing I particularly liked about it is that there's no levelling up, you just increase your stats by equipping different items, which eliminates the need for grinding. Or at least it should, but the game started to get very difficult towards the end and I found that the only way to get a particular item that would have been very helpful was as a rare drop from certain enemies, so you basically needed to grind to get that, which annoyed me enough to make me give up on the game.

Again, though, I was about 13, so I probably found it harder than I would do now; I want to replay it some day and see if I can finish it this time. If you like tabletop games and RPGs it should be right up your street and I'd certainly recommend giving it a go as it's pretty cheap.

@Dogorilla The fact that it's relatively cheap is one of the reasons why I'm seriously considering the game. XD I do have a certain grinding threshold, though I don't mind some grinding in games as long as there's clear progress and some benefit. Equipping items instead of grinding against monsters does sound like a fun experience. I appreciate the feedback!

So, I did the math, and it would cost me $603 + tax to buy out the entire Virtual Console (all the remaining games I have yet to purchase). Most of them are games that don't interest me much, but I'm wondering if it's worth it just for posterity of having a complete VC playable on the TV or gamepad for handheld play.

DS Games are probably better played on 3DS, but there's only a few I don't own yet, and only 2 Wii games I dont own. I own all GBA and N64. It's the NES and SNES where I'm missing dozens.

That's a lot of money. I wish they'd put them all on sale one last time to squeeze out as many sales as possible. But they likely won't.
