I thought Magic Bubbles was a pleasant surprise (in so far as a game I planned buy along with the Oracle games to clean up the extra eShop credit could be a surprise?). The dress-up mechanic was fairly dull, but the puzzle mode is an instant classic. And that music. Pentatonic scales for-ev-er.
Awesome cheap games from the eShop? I've got a full list of recommendations below... but my favorite cheapie has to be Pop Island Paperfield. Fantastic party game!
$2 - GO Series: Undead Storm - much better if you convince at least one friend to also buy; if it had download play might've been my favorite
$2 - Pop Island Paperfield - awesome download play with other DS/DSi/3DS systems!
$2 - Rytmik Rock Edition - not my favorite samples, but an awesome music tool at a ridiculous price for people who enjoy creating content; note price is more expensive outside North America, and all other versions of Rytmik are more expensive than this one
$2 - Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology - more "experiences" than actual games, low replay value... but brilliant collection if you like "art games"
$2 - Gunman Clive - short game, but fun to play through multiple times
$3 - Avenging Spirit - often overlooked Gameboy VC game that is a blast to play; be a ghost, possess your enemies that each have different abilities (strength/speed/jumping/attack type)
Honorable mention:
$7 - Colors! 3D - Not really cheap, but a fantastic application with great online / community features; worth every penny
It's a buggy RPG that relies on the RL buttons (which we all know have a tendency to break), has a lot of typos and features seemingly unfinished music and sequences.
...
I tend to agree. Bought on a recommendation from a friend and was very disappointed. Played for about an hour and then jumped ship - something I very rarely do with games on any system, and especially rare for digital purchases since I can't turn around and sell the game.
If I had only paid a dollar, then maybe I'd think it was worthwhile. But there are a lot of better games available for a similar price point.

Its really strange to me that Nintendo will not offer any sales or permanent price cuts on any of older DSi software. It seems to me that they are content with letting it sit and get its 1 or 2 downloads a month. if that's the case I don't know what kind of sales those old games get in the Eshop. But you would think some permanent price cuts should come along for that older stuff. I still don't like the fact that some of the Android releases to the Eshop are up to 7x more expensive than the android market.
My favorite Eshop Cheapy has changed to Shining Force on Virtual Console. It looks great plays great and floods in those old memories of playing the Classic!
Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.
Has anyone played Crystal Monsters or Legends of Exidia Ive been thinking of getting one of these cheapies although Legends of Exidia isn't all that cheap for old DSiWare
I have both. Crystal monsters has a different turn based style than pokemon and has a plot more closely related to certain digimon series in that only certain chosen people can see/use monsters and an group of people want to use boss monsters to make all monsters non-exsistant in the world.
As for Exidia, it's an action rpg that is very short to play, unless you stay at the beginnig before the boat ride and fight monsters until you reach lv. twenty five (which is easy to do because you level up very easily) even though the game reccomends only lv. 8. I did this and the boat monster died very quickly. I was okay with both titles.
By the way my favorite cheapy is Defenders of the Oasis on the vc. It's only $3.99 on the eshop and it's great for rpg fans. The Shining Force 2 is also great, espeacially for fan of Fire Emblem or Strategy rpgs in general. As for 3D games I'd have to say Family Kart 3D.
Gunman Clive is definitely a favorite eshop cheapy!!!
I keep hearing mixed opinions on this title. I looked at the info on it and thought it sounded like it lacked a solid story line and I usually only like rpg's because I enjoy because they have a story line and they take hours to beat. But then again I've gotten hung on plotless titles before (I REALLY hate puzzlers but for a week I ditched Pokemon in favor of Tetris Axis)
gunman clive!!!!
specially after playing through the duck mode!!!!!
goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

Is 5.99 cheap? Then I'd recommend Bike Rider DX! Title sounds lame but the game isn't www
I was going to add this to one of my favorites. I would consider 5.99 cheap and Bike Rider DX is pretty darn fun. Gunman Clive is really hard to Deny at 1.99 But there are other cheapies as well that deserve some support One thing I will say about Bike Rider DX it is very addicting! you find yourself saying "just one more time!" If your waiting on a sale for Bike Rider DX, Do not pass on it if it ever comes up on sale. You wont regret that. I don't regret buying at full price one bit and consider it 5.99 well spent
