Hey, so I have a 4GB SD card in my 3DS and I was wondering, what happens if I wanted to get an 8GB or a 64GB memory card? I would end up losing all my stuff, is there anyway around this?

Thanks!

You need a computer with an SD card reader...also I don't think the 3DS can support 64GB. But yeah, need an SD card reader to transfer stuff.

Correction, you can use a 64GB card on the 3DS, but it needs be formatted to FAT32 and even then it may not work. I'd say just upgrade to a 32GB, gives you plenty of space, I've had mine for 2 years and I still haven't dented it even with 11 retail downloads and 70+ download titles.

As for switching them, you just need to transfer the information with an SD Card reader and a computer. Really simple.

get a bigger SD card. to keep your data just copy EVERYTHING to a PC and then to the new SD card

note:

DON'T TOUCH ANY FILE AT ALL! JUST COPY AND PASTE, IF YOU MESS WITH ANY FILE YOU MAY LOSE ALL YOUR DATA

and if it fails in the first try just format(the new SD card don't format the old one until it's all over with the new one working) and copy the files again

I've had my laptop for almost a year and this thread just inspired to actually check if it had an SD reader for the first time. What do ya kno? It's in some completely unnoticeable slot underneath it. Good to know I have nothing to worry about when I eventually have to switch to a bigger card.

Doesn't hurt to back up the card periodically to PC as well just as a precaution.
