I've been a fan of the tragically overlooked and overshadowed but fantastic Wario Land series for a while now and believe it's about time for our greedy, money-grubbing anti-hero to star in Wario Land 5 (or whatever it'd be called).
The mediocre New Super Mario Bros. 2 was the perfect oppurtunity for Wario to get his own title (or at least be the villain), but Nintendo unfortunately decided to slap Mario's face on it so it'd sell.
It does seem to be about time, and the 3DS is desperate for more quality platformers. Anyone got an opinion on Wario: Master of Disguise on DS? I keep running across it, but I keep waffling on picking it up or not.
Historically I've always been a fan of Wario games. Mario Land 3 was a major part of my early gaming life (probably my favorite Game Boy title of all time). Unfortunately I never got Wario Land 2 or 3 (though I found 3 at the flea market a few months ago, and picked up 2 as a 3DS download for my Club Nintendo Gold reward this year), I did get 4 when I got a GBA back in the early 2000s. I liked it a lot, but haven't played it in a while.
But do you know what they really should make? A remake of Virtual Boy Wario Land. I mean... that right there is a no-brainer really.

It's alright. The mechanic of drawing on the screen is the biggest issue, as the game gets the various forms confused as you draw them, ending with the player getting frustrated over getting the form they require. But the puzzles and platforming are solid. Get it for a cheap price.
On topic, There's already a Wario Land 5. It's called Wario Land: Shake it! (Also known as 'The Shake Dimension' in Europe).

Actually, I have played and plan on finishing Shake It!! eventually. I just didn't enjoy it as much as it lacked a lot of features and the presentation style of previous Wario games (Captain Syrup's cameo was really cool, though).
I kind of think Nintendo should name the game Wario Land 5 or Wario Land 3D to skip Shake It!!, since it didn't really feel like a true Wario Land game. It'd be like calling Wario Land: Shake It!! Wario Land 6 after Wario: Master of Disguise.
I liked the Shake Dimension but I would agree it is quite different to Wario Land 4.
If they do make a Wario Land 5 but reset the difficulty to make it more like Yoshi's New Island or NSMB2 I think I won't end up enjoying it.
(I am playing Wario Land 4 on the Wii U VC and I am really enjoying it but I don't think it is selling very well by the number of people rating it when compared to the other GBA releases).
I particularly like the way it does exploration without really annoying me. (And it is needed for the dash back). That sort of thing is what I think of as being something for everybody (That Nintendo always says they do). Whether you like speed or exploration you are going to like one or the other part. (And the one that you like the least is probably going to be the most challenging).
I'm all for Nintendo mixing it up with their releases, but I've never enjoyed any of the Warioland games - even as a big fan of Platformers in general.
Wario Land 4 technically didn't count VB Wario Land, either. We're actually due for a Wario Land 7, but I don't expect it to be called as such. Each Wario Land game is quite different from the last, which is why the series is so enjoyable.
They'll probably just give it a subtitle like the awesome "Shake It!", if we get it at all.
But, yeah, I can certainly go for a new Wario Land. We're about due for one.

By the way, if anyone here hasn't enjoyed some of the other games, play Wario Land 3. It's an incredible game in that it stuffs so many sprites, smooth animations, cutscenes, a wonderful and atmospheric soundtrack, great controls and maze-like levels along with a day and night system. Different things will change at night (such as the music). The boss battles are also very clever and fun to play and are great overall,
I had a dream about Wario Land 5 once. It was announced on a Nintendo Direct, and was confirmed to be available on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, with the only difference between the two being the art style.
wawawawawa!!!!

I'm desperately hoping one is announced soon, although to be honest, I've been hoping for it ever since the 3DS launched in 2011. Or maybe even earlier.
Pity NIntendo seems to completely ignore the Wario series at even the best of times.

Definitely pick that title up.
I agree. Its a great game! I don't know why people complain so much about it seeing how much of fun you get in the game. Its a little brainteasing I'll give you that but regardless, I had a great time with it.
But I still think Wario Land 2 is the best out of all of em(excluding Shake It cause I haven't gotten it yet). Lots of replay value and endings.

I don't think they are ignoring it. They take their own time to make those games we want which I can put up with!
