So my cousin has Pokemon Diamond, and I am thinking bout getting Pokemon Black 2. I do not have a DS, so is it possible to transfer Gen 4 on a NDS to Gen 5 on a 3DS, or do I need an NDS to actually switch between the two?

You can use the 3DS for this as well.
