Yes, the game comes with its own music player that you can use even when the system is in sleep mode.

Unlocking all the songs for it will take a while though.

Dlc songs songs are added immediately after their purchase though.

Hey folks, I want to pick this game up soon but I have a question that none of the reviews seem to answer. Is there a way to just listen to music from the game outside of gameplay, like a "sound test" mode? That would be great.

Yup, in the Museum, there's a Music Player that you can use to listen to music, and it can even play while the 3DS is in sleep mode, if you have head phones or speakers in the audio jack.

At least Judgement doesn't mess with the triggers, lol. As long as I know what I'm doing, Judgement doesn't do much damage.

@Morphbug The DLC songs are added to the music player? That's good news. The first installment didn't do that.

If you choose the song you want to listen to and then select "PLAY DEMO" underneath any of the difficulties and the AI will start playing it and getting criticals. You can turn off the chime sounds in settings if the noise from them is annoying you.

I intended to Play one of my new games when I got home last night but started this first. 2 and a half hours later I could barely keep my eyes open and the other game was still on my tv screen waiting to be played.

I did eventually play that though for like another hour as it woke me back up rather fast lol.

So I did my registration survey on Club Nintendo today and when I was asked to give my thoughts I had mentioned that Nintendo should give square the rights to the Zelda franchise to make a music game. I think we should all do this on our surveys.

As much as I love Zelda, I'm not sure it as enough songs to hold up its own game. Now a Nintendo Theatrhythm game would be amazing.

You do realize there is like q5 Zelda games right? They could also use Links Crossbow Training and Hyrule Warriors plus anything else I'm forgetting. There is well over 100 songs and that's more then enough.

I do realize that, I just can't think of that many tracks off the top of my head that I would want to see in a Theatrhythm styled game. I'm not saying it couldn't work, I probably just need to go refresh my memory on the soundtracks.

Let's put it this way, I just pulled out my Majoras Mask soundtrack and there is 53 tracks. Even if only a third of those are actual full length songs that's still a health amount and from only one game.

Where is the option to buy DLC? I know it is supposed to be on the file select screen, but it is not there for me. Do I have to clear a certain number of songs before it's available?

Yes you do. It took me about an hour or so to unlock it. I do however wish it was more visible as I rarely turn the games off I'm playing and usually just put it in sleep mode.

Just about every mode in this game is 'unlocked' through playing enough songs and earning rhythmia, including DLC. Play a couple of quests and you should have it unlocked in no time. If you haven't unlocked quests yet... you still have a while to go.

Quests are unlocked. I started one yesterday.
