Topic: the stupidest 3DSWare idea imaginable

during my latest visit to the NA eshop, i was drawn to the "coming soon to the eshop" slide. within, i found "Pokemon: Dream Radar". now, i want to make something clear: i hate pokemon, so let's not assume i would buy this, as it's not aimed towards me. but, because i wanted to kill time, i read the description for the game, as i did with all the other games in the slide. i read through, nothing interesting to me, until i reached "Important Information" where i read:

"This title is available in 2D only. Adjusting the 3D Depth Slider will have no effect."

my immediate reaction was:

i thought that 3D was the point of calling it a "3DS", let alone "3DSWare".

You mean best, because 3D is still a stupid, pointless graphical gimmick 99% of the time.

right, which is why you own a 3DS, right?

I own a 3DS for good video games. I own a Wii for good video games. I am interested in getting a Wii U for good video games. I still play my N64 because it had good video games. I wish I had a Playstation 3 so I could play more good video games (mainly PS1/2 titles).

God forbid that not every single title features 3D.

well than you should play with the 3D on, unless you get some headache, or something. i always have the 3D on, because otherwise, it's just a new DS. and after all, it's called a 3DS for a reason

dude, I gave 3D a chance for A YEAR. A YEAR. And with the exception of Super Mario 3D Land and one or two brief moments in Kid Icarus, it added nothing. It is in fact below HD graphics in terms of relevence to anything and that takes effort.

The 3DS IS essentially a new DS. Most games don't really need 3D. What's the point of this thread aside from "all 3DS games have to have 3D or I'll whine online"?

You sir, sound incredibly ignorant. Dream Radar involves moving the 3DS around quickly so the 3D effect would strain your eyes and not be effective at all. Plus, 3DSWare is called 3DSWare because it's eShop software made for the 3DS. Nintendo themselves said not every 3DS game needs to use the 3D effect. Good job singling out an entry in a game series you hate for not using 3D when Bomb Moneky, also on the eShop, did the same thing but you don't even know.

not really the point. point is, if it's called 3DSWare, on a console that supports 3D, then it would be at least admirable if they even tried.

I didn't spend $250 for a 3D effect. I spent it to play enjoyable games. I'm with kk — 99% of the time it's a useless nuisance.

Also it's not called 3DSWare. It's a game downloadable through the eShop.

the 3DS is not just about the 3D effect, it's also about the added processing power. If something doesn't appeal to you on the eShop, don't buy it. it's that easy!
