The very helpful CS rep did make one suggestion when I asked about a possible WiiWare/SD card type solution: Have your friends call and ask about it. She said that they are required to log every issue that customers call in about, and the more calls there are on an issue with a system, the more attention is paid to it. It may be worth a few mins of your time to give them a call and help bump up the stats on the problem if you think as I do that the lack of capacity for DSiWare is a serious shortcoming with the 3DS that Nintendo can and should address.

Do you know if this logic could apply to Operation Rainfall?

Exactly.

For DSiware games, I hope Nintendo makes an app downloaded from the eShop that lets you store DSiware games that just let's you play them from there.

No

EDIT: I don't personally like the idea of pestering everyone else in Nintendo about some games you all want. Fans probably have done this all the time and have made little progress.

This sucks. I just bought 2 DSiWare games today, and you're telling me that I have to copy the unplayed games onto an SD card just so I have enough space on my system memory? Why couldn't Nintendo just do an automatic transfer like on the Wii? When a game is launched from the SD card, the Wii copies the data to the system memory as a temporary file, and then deletes it when you are done playing.

I'm glad 3DS software launches from the SD card, but it should also be implemented for DSiWare games.

EDIT:
I just figured out a solution!
1. Copy all of your DSiWare games to an SD card.
2. Delete the DSiWare data from the 3DS memory. The game will still be on the SD card.

When you want to play a DSiWare game, simply copy it from the SD card. After you are done playing, delete it from the 3DS memory. Doing this one game at a time saves up a lot of space. Problem solved?

The one game I didn't want transferred from my DSi is the one game I end up playing the most on my 3DS, stupid juggling game. ...oh well, at least it's free.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

Papa_Godzilla

i hope the 20 ambassador games will go straight to the sd card. that would be stupid otherwise

i still need to store dsi games to my card, are you sure its 100% okay to manually delete them after storing them on the sd card ?
can can recopy them without worries ?
i usualy backup my sd card now and then on my computer, and it works, so i guess it will be ok...

They will if they're VC games

It only took me 10 Dsiware games to completely fill my 3DS's memory.
unless Nintendo gives us an update to load the games from the SD card I may not be buying any more.
It would get old real fast having to constantly swap games from the memory to the card to make room.
They fixed that problem on Wii so why can't they do it for 3DS?

I fully understand now.
3DSWare, VC (including the upcoming ambassador games) and other content made FOR the 3DS are saved to the SD card and accessed from there.
DSiWare is saved to the main memory and only has a set amount of memory (partitioned so to speak) (1061 blocks, roughly 134MB)

I imagine Nintendo did this because of the fact these games still use the DSi and DSiXL system, and they would have to reprogram all 3 firmwares, which we all know how lazy Nintendo is so they just don't bother.

The bigger issue to me is, aside from Let's Golf, there isn't any 3DSWare. I mean, what the heck.

Because having to remove a cartridge/ CD/ DVD from the slot and change it over when you wanted to play a new game was such a pain in the neck and no one should by retail games any longer in protest.

It's the same in principle here. Copy from SD card when you want to play, copy back when done. Problem solved.

I don't know that I'll completely stop buying Dsiware but the games will have to be really good for me to even consider.
If I feel I can live without them I doubt I'll buy a whole lot.
This is Dsiware we're talking about. Not many of those games are that thrilling anyway.

Well that's also assuming you'll play those DSiware games over and over again. Most of the ones I got were done after one playthrough. The only exception is Dr. Mario. The process only takes about 5 minutes for me, so I don't see what the big deal is anyway

In essence it's the same, but switching out a disc/cart takes seconds, while switching out DSiWare is a menu fun and takes far longer then switching a retail game.
I can fully understand why people find this a pain in the rear, but it's Nintendo, they should've expected as much.

Agreed. I can honestly say there hasn't been a single time with both the DSi and 3DS that I've wished for a load off the SD card feature, when I can just copy back and forth instead.

And I have around 50 DSiWare, at last count.

Papa_Godzilla

yeah, any frankly, most dsiwares dont give me much lifetime or replay value anyway. better stash them until next time.
nes ambassador titles MUST be on sd card, elseway its plainly stupid

This. And now that we actually have an SD card streaming ability, I don't want it for my DSiWare. Honestly, I rarely play most of the DSiWare that I have on my home screen, and having roughly 85 games, that would be a whole lot of clutter. That's in addition to DSiWare save data now having very little security and that I very rarely have craving to play any that are on my SD card.

Exactly.

This is a problem. Because people will stop Buying DSiWare because of no space and then Nintendo will lose money. So it's pretty much confirmed that an update's coming soon.

Honestly I think people are getting too used to convenience with electronics these days. If something takes more than five seconds, it's typically viewed as inconvenient (I know it's an exaggeration). Patience is more of a virtue these days than in the past

The NES games won't take up that much space, will they? What about the GBA games? They'll obviously take up more space than the NES, but both will take less than the DSiWare, right?
