I read about the scratches issue on the screen as a result of the closed lid, so I have got around this by simply getting a cloth that you use to clean a screen or a pair of glasses and cut it to the size of my 3DS. Its no hassle just popping it on top od the bottom screen before closing the system.......problem solved, plus you have a screen cleaner at hand all the time.
Thanks everyone! May have to pick up a zelda edition one now, given that all my data is safe <3

Not sure how good Nintendo is in Australia, so I won't bother trying to get it repaired...besides, I don't think I could tolerate weeks without my 3DS <3 our postage system SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS

Do you think they will release a 3DS version that has two circle pads (instead of the circle pad pro attachment)? I guess I could tolerate the flaws for a little while longer if I had hope they would make a new version incorporating it...
I intend to give my old one to someone, so I can have some multiplayer fun

As far as a new one goes, I'd guess the 3DS XL w/ 4" screens, a better battery, and 2 circle pads. The issues: Nintendo barely got the hinges on the first 3DS to work, a new one will have to have that old, dull design from the DSi It's XL - good luck fitting that anywhere. And the ZL/ZR buttons? If Nintendo made one now, that's like saying to your best friend "sorry, I've got a new friend." Nintendo's loyal customers wouldn't be happy. It'll come out in late 2013, I'd guess, to avoid angry customers. Plus, its people who hold out on this stuff that hurts sales, so what better than to reward loyal customers even more and teach the not-so-loyal a lesson for not buying your system? No offense to those holding out on this. It's exactly what I might do considering what has happened if I worked at Nintendo. Plus, Nintendo was unhappy w/ the DS hardware. They are proud of the 3DS.
Also, w/ my 3DS I don't have much issues. I have the Circle Mark, it took me a while to put 2 & 2 together. It's from the circle pad. The hinge is loose on all 3DSes. At least it remains in one piece. Same goes w/ the slightly unresponsive power button. Other than issues w/ all 3DSes, I've got nothing. And why buy a new one when you can repair it? It's cheaper.

I have no sound issues. Some games are just quiet, it's the Dev's fault. Try listening to music on 3DS sound. I thought the 3DS was quiet. Try getting some Skullcandy sound isolating earbuds. It made a big difference on the bus. At home, they're the same volume (minus the bass w/ the Skullcandy ones which adds a cool effect). It's background noise that kills off the sound sometimes. If you're worried about the bass going boom, boom-boom when you're playing Mario Kart, it only goes off at certain times. Maybe it's your headphones because I have no problems. They were only $7.99 new - a steal!

W/ Wii pointer controls, games can work great. I prefer playing Metroid Prime Trilogy w/ my Wiimote, but Goldeneye offers that & the classic controller pro. I prefer using the pro for the one of the only good FPSes on the Wii, and the only good bond game for that matter (IGN gave it 9.5/10). Anyways, people should take the Konami route: offer both like MGS 3D and Goldeneye. Just saying, analog can work better at times too.

@LordTendoboy The formatting doesn't work because you're trying to format using HTML (I think). Nintendo Life seems to have a different method for formatting.
I guess I am one of the few who haven't found some unbearable flaw on their 3DS (other than the 3D screen marks made by the touch screen, which don't bother me at all considering they're pretty much invisible while playing non 3D games).
It's not like I have anywhere to send it for repairs in my country, so I should be thankful I suppose.
Anyways, when did you get promoted to Lord, Tendoboy?
I'm sending in my 3DS again because the replacement system Nintendo sent me has the same loose hinge and L Button issues.
What a pain in the uuber Surfer tooshie! I'm glad i bought a new one instead, actually i consider it free considering the $170 bonus I got. I only had to throw in $20 extra to get it anyways hehe. It must be frustrating to return something and getting it back not in Turtle-tip top shape as you wanted.
It's too time consuming having to phone again, go out of your way to repackage it, send it out at the post office, wait for them to get it, wait for them to do the repairs and again 'wait' for them to send it back. But it's understandable if the price for repairs is cheapy.
The repair and shipping are both free. System defects are covered under Nintendo's warranty, and when they send you a replacement system, the 1-year warranty is renewed fresh.
I just called UPS and had them pick up my 3DS straight from my house.
You should get a PSVita Their unbreakble, and way better then a lame 3DS
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

Unbreakable, until you drop it and that glass screen shatters just like an iPod Touch. At least they got rid of that stupid disc drive. No moving parts means nothing internal can break.
