Well someone has to say something about this game that's getting hyped.
I played the two Shantae games and while I'm rather lukewarm to both the games (Although Risky's Revenge is miles better than Shantae) This game looks like I might want to try out.
So what are your thoughts here? Plan on getting it or not?
I wonder why you preferred Risky's Revenge to the original? The original is more challenging and quite a bit longer. Plus, the game has some awesome mini-games!
I'm absolutely getting this... for the 3DS. If it ever comes out.
@Ralizah the mini games are while fun, don't really do much other than money. Also the difficulty while fairly balanced, can be a bit frustrating and also the sound is annoying. Risky's Revenge improves everything from the original but is extremely short I'll admit.
It was originally announced in 2012 in the last issue of Nintendo Power. It is now Q3 of 2014 and all we know is that it will likely be delayed even longer because of the Wii U version that was announced.
I agree I hope this game comes out soon but, in 2012 when this was announced I remembered how long it took for Risky's Revenge to come out so I wasn't expecting it till this year.
Now for something completely different!
Still got it memorized? My Skitloggery
Hoping they do a sale on the earlier releases (Risky's Revenge in particular since I heard it's pretty short) so I can take a stab at the series finally. If it's as good as I always read then I wanna have an idea before dropping a solid 20 on the newest title.
Also Fantasy Life comes out the same night so I don't need to jump in full knowing I may neglect it for a while.
Game(s) right now: Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon, World of Final Fantasy Maxima

Well, Risky's Revenge is $10 on Steam and will probably go through a sale during the next Steam Sale
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
It better have a lot of content. I bought Risky's Revenge for the asking price but told myself I wouldn't be so quick to do something like that again. Now this is nearly double the price which makes me hesitant.
Unless WayForward is lying (which I doubt), the game will be at least twice as big as Risky's Revenge. They've roughly estimated an initial playthrough will take about 7 - 10 hours, but unlike the other games, this one will have stuff like unlockable modes and alternate endings to reward multiple playthroughs.
I'm quite relieved that it isn't being delayed further on account of the Wii U version. MSF showed just how good WayForward's sprite-based artwork could look when properly integrated with the system's 3D, and they're taking particular pains to make sure Pirate's Curse looks awesome AS a 3D game, which, in my opinion, means this will be the definitive version of the game.
Sooo is it worth buying a 20 dollar e-shop card to get both Shantae, and Risky's Revenge? This game, and Half Genie Hero (especially Half Genie Hero) look like great platformers! I just don't know if I should play the previous games to get the story and all that jazz.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

If you're playing to get the story, Risky's Revenge is probably all you need to play. Aside from introducing some minor characters, the original doesn't do much story-wise. The original Shantae is cheaper to download and is a richer, more challenging experience, though, so I do eventually recommend getting that one. Honestly, the worst thing about R'sR are those awful boost pads you use to jump between levels in the world. I like that this new one is going to be one big, interconnected world.

The original Shantae seems to have a lot of differing opinions. I'm not too sure about that one. I'll probably end up getting Risky though. It sucks that Nintendo doesn't let you add 15 dollars to e-shop credit, because the game is 12 bucks, but I'll have to add 20 to pay for it. :/

$20 is steep, I'll admit. I might have to put it off for a few weeks. I still need to replay/finish Risky's Revenge, and I haven't even touched my VC copy of the original GBC game yet...
