Anyone know if anything's been cut from the retail game, Reel Fishing 3D Paradise? Some games have not been cut (like the hunting games) but some have (like the dragon fighting game on DSiware).

Nintendo's page says this 3DSware version has 6 locations, but if you look at the screenshots, there's one that shows the locations and there's 15, the same amount on the retail version. Dunno if they meant 15 instead of 6, or if that screenshot was taken from the retail version. Funny how there's no mention of how many fish you can get, and whether they have that aquarium feature.

I've been wanting the retail game but I haven't been able to find it anywhere in the city. Dunno if I should get this, especially if there's anything cut from the retail version. On the other hand, I can't find the retail version. It's probably rare at this point.

P.S, Don't tell me to get the retail version on Amazon. It's 14 bucks but I live in Canada and the shipping and potential import tax I may get doesn't make it worth it.

I have the retail version, and I'm wondering the same questions :/

Yah,. I need someone who doesn't have retail version to get the Eshop version and see if it has the same stuff as retail, yet doesn't care if there's stuff cut or not. It doesn't make sense for someone who has the retail version to get the Eshop version as that won't make any sense at all, unless they wanted a digital version of the same game.

See, Outdoors Africa Unleashed is $3.99 while retail version was a lot more, yet nothing (as I know) was cut, so the low price doesn't always mean stuff will be cut.

I wanna know how many location it has, how many fish, how many tackle and if there's aquarium mode. Problem is, everyone in the update post is dismissing the entire update as 'shovelware' so I doubt I can find anyone to help me.

Indeed, I'm not thinking buying this one but if this helps you, overall is a good game if you love fishing, but the music is so boring men, and I'm not kidding really sucks

Well music has never been a highlight of fishing anyway so that doesn't bother me.

Since you have the game, is it very easy to catch the fish or is there more work/skill involved when bringing it in? Don't want it too easy but I don't want it to be very hard either.

I have to be very honest with you, since I see you are like me,we love this fishing stuff, like I said overall the game is fun, but you have a very good point on asking if it easy or not to catch a fish and sadly it is, you only cast the lure, wait the fish to bite and you have the option to use the stylus or the Y or X buttons to reel slower and faster, it takes like 2 or 3 minutes to take out the fish of the water and start over again, like I said before, I love fishing but this game is not in my top list, actually I played more the Dsiware game Fishing Resort and found it more pleasant and challenging that this one

Oh that's a bummer. I don't have Fishing Resort but I do have Big Bass Arcade. That's pretty challenging as well and although it's a good game, it's only bass and I'd like another where I can catch different kinds of fish. Not too fond of the artstyle in Fishing Resort but if you say it's challenging, I should look more into it.

Still wanna know if Reel Fishing's been cut although I'm not sure if I want it now.

Funny! I was about to pick this one up in Target last night, now I want to wait it out and see what the differences are between the retail version and eShop version.

The site says the retail version has 15 stages and the new eShop mini version has over 20 missions. Maybe environments or fish were culled to make it a mini version? The interface and mechanic appear identical in videos... I like the little reel dew-dad on the touch screen.

Indeed, the back in the retail box says:

-15 stages, 40 fish and over 100 pieces of tackle

Yeah, Fishing Resort is much more fun, have a decent variety of fish and is very challenging to catch a Giant one!, If you buy it and want more info PM me, besides it cost 1.99, very cheap one!

I don't think you can even PM anyone on this forum, so I'll just continue asking here. How many fish are in Fishing Resort? The gameplay (yes, I read about it) apparently consists of swiping stuff which doesn't actually emulate actual fishing. Even though you love fishing, you still liked the gameplay for this game?

GO Series Fishing Resort is one of my favorite DSiWares, it's just so much fun to play, and I don't even like fishing.
I think there are about 20 fish to be found, But I haven't actually seen them all.

Oh ya, sorry, I didn't know that you can PM other members, well I like all type of fishing games and you're right, you have to use your stylus to take out fish sliding and flicking, but it's fun and after all is fishing!, If you want a better game for DS, I used to play Rapala Pro Bass Fishing and is by far the most good looking and challenging fishing game for the DS, but you know something? Yesterday I take out my retail copy of Reel Fishing Paradise and played one more time, on a second sight it's not too bad, give it a try! Maybe you will find more enjoyable than me who knows?

Hello people! Since nobody wanted to help me out with my question in this thread, I bought it myself. I didn't mind as I doubt I'd ever find the retail version anytime soon and the fact I reaaaalllly wanted to fish in 3D. Now to answer my own question.

That screenshot showing the 15 locations on the Nintendo page is NOT FROM THIS GAME. As I suspected, it was taken from the retail version. There are only 6 locations as mentioned!

There are only 14 fish you can catch as well. I know it's far less than the 40 in the retail version, but 14 is still a decent number to me since the only other fishing game I have on my 3DS is Big Bass Arcade which only has bass and is far less than 14.

Technically there is no mode where you can just fish (there's only missions) but after you complete a mission, you can continue fishing without going back to the lodge for as long as you want which is pretty much free fishing. You can even change locations if you wanted to (even during the mission). I love the 3D-ness when the fish leaps out of the water.

You can turn off the tension gauge if you wish in the options if you want to make it harder.

I actually already have two other realistic fishing games on my PSP (Rapala Trophies and EA Sports Championship Bass) so I'm not too fussy getting this 'mini' version of a game I can't find when I have other choices when it comes to fishing.

Wait, I never said it was BAD. Yes, stuff are cut from the retail version but the stuff they kept is still a decent enough amount and there's also a good selection of tackle you can choose from. It complements Big Bass Arcade nicely with the variety of fish you can catch. The backgrounds are so pretty. I'd recommend it if you don't already have the retail version.
