So I bought a 3DS a while back and it came with a bunch of games on it, but it's got the previous owners account on it and I can't log in cause I don't have their details, and I want to use my own account. If I remove the old owners account, will I still be able to use the games that they bought and installed on the 3DS?
I've asked Nintendo support but they pretty much just said they can't answer any questions involving someone else's account.( Even though I said in the message that I didn't want to access the account, just want to know if I can still play all the games installed on the 3DS)

@Dethmagician : If the account is removed, then all of the games will be as well. According to Nintendo's terms of use, a user must remove/delete their account from a console before giving or selling it to another person, so, Nintendo will not help you in trying to access their account, but if you can factory reset the console (which should remove the NNID associated with the console) then you should be dandy.

well i think thats horse crap.

What about memory card sticks that you buy in order to have save space for a digital game? you should be able to have a digital game saved into/onto a memory card stick then pass it along to someone else.

Same thing with a Nintendo Switch micro sd card. If you have a digital game copied/redownloaded onto a micro sd card and give it away or sell it to someone else then they should be able to have the game

@urrutiap And that's exactly why that's not possible cause one person would buy the game and then be giving copies away for free.

Strange that you need to log in to play digital games that are located directly on the console. I can get online play, but digital games too?

I can actually play the games on the 3DS, the problem is I wanna buy more games and stuff like that but cause of the whole previous owners account part, I can't really buy anything

Also on this Topic, with the Pokemon games, if I leave this account on the 3DS can I still connect it with a Nintendo Switch if the Switch has my account?

I guess, if you can access the games themselves.

@Dethmagician
Just reset your 3DS back to factory setting.
I did it too when i got an used 3DS XL PAL version from previous owner so i can make a new eshop account with my name.
I didn't even care with the pre-installed games from previous owner since it was used to be theirs, not mine. I made my used 3DS XL PAL version clean slate so i can use my account and i updated the machine as well.

@Dethmagician I haven't looked at multiplayer on Switch but I think that Pokemon can only be moved (forwards) from Gen 6 and 7 (on the 3DS) to Gen 8 (on the Switch) through official online services (Bank/Home), which I assume would thus require you to have the necessary programs as well as an account to the (not free) services on both machines.
So, that's probably a "no".

(so Pokemon could be freely moved forward from Gen 3 to 5, and then after that we became tied to online services that Nintendo can turn off whenever they feel like it, to migrate them further)
