Yeah, there isn't going to be a price drop for a couple of years - there is no point for them to do it, because no doubt it will be cheaper than the NPG anyway... Best you may get is a bundle game deal... I don't need one yet anyway - Barely any of my friends are gamers so I never have any pressure on me, and it is a good opportunity to keep getting DS games for a couple of years and get a swag of cheap great games!

You guys know there was an earthquake in Japan not too long ago. Doubt we'll see any kind of price drop for a while. At the midnight release in the U.S. they said they weren't even getting any more shipments in until this August.

I doubt there will be a price drop until 1 of the 3 happens. 1.) Sales stagnate (more than likely won't happen) 2.) NGP/PSP2 moves more or equal to the same unit volume. (Again, more than likely won't happen) 3.) The internals become cheaper.
The first 2 probably won't happen but the third is possible. I read somewhere the system cost Nintendo around $100-110 to produce. I own a business so i know the way production to dealer stuff works pretty well. Selling to dealers im guessing that dealers get them at around $180 then are confined to sell at $250. So if Nintendo could make the 3DS for less say $50-75 they would be able to reduce the price to dealers thus making the retail cheaper. With the way electronics evolve that could be foreseeable well within a years time.
But when your selling high volume there's no need to reduce retail even if you do reduce your in-house cost until you don't meet your projected sales figures.
This June. Really, with the much anticipated release of Ocarina of Time 3D why shouldn't they? Maybe about $15 - $30 if so. The PSP is still alive and kicking, you know. $129.99 vs. $249.99. That's nearly half of a 3DS.
This article says it costs $100 for raw materials. Obviously you have to factor in research and development, manufacturing, advertisement, testing, profit, etc. It costs quite a bit for Nintendo to make a system.
I wonder if any current 3DS games will get a small price drop this summer? For example: SF43DE goes from $39.99 to $29.99.
It's possible. Right now for DS games they are still $35 for the good-quality ones (i.e. Legend of Zelda or new super mario bros.) but there is a chance that tons of shovelware will be for the 3DS and be priced around $30. It is likely that some of the launch games like SSIV3D will still be at $40 this summer.

Third party games will most definitely drop in prove. Unless the person mean launch prices, then no, I doubt they will change much, but third party games always drop in price over time.
Nintendo games however I dunno. Considering the short games they launched with at full price, and their completely abandonment of player's choice AND what they are doing with Wii and DS first party software, I expect them to be high and always high.

You're right on target. The Animal Crossing: Wild World and Dragon Quest IX Defenders of the Starry Sky are still right at $29.99. However I can see a game like PilotWings Resort, Rayman 3DS and LEGO Star Wars III 3DS getting a price drop toward the end of the year, if not before. But as for Super Street Fighter 4 3D and Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3DS, I agree that premium software like that won't get a price drop.
I'm not going to buy anything for my 3DS as I don't like the launch titles personally. I'm simply going to wait for Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Kid Icarus Uprising as Nintendo Power and the majority of internet sites seem to all be beating the same drum to the rhythm of a early to mid summer release for those two games.

Just saaaaying.
Yeah and right now Japan needs all the help they can get.

I see an $5 dollar price drop on some of the least popular during the holiday season but SSFIV3D might stick around the $40 range.
Price drops almost always happen around the holiday season and they'll do it just to get the system out there their games make up for price cuts anyhow
