They can definitely add ash greninja without having to acknowledge the anime as game-canon or adding Ash as a character.

After all, they have offered anime-based Pokemon before, like Ash's Pikachu, Team Rocket's Meowth and Misty's Psyduck.

It could just be a special Pokemon, like the contest Pikachu and the notched ear Pichu.

Well I was referring to the concept behind Ash-Greninja becoming a feature of the game, not Ash-Greninja itself.

This would explain why the trainers are now visible during the battle.

Oh yeah, that could happen too.

It would just require them adding Pokemon-versions of all the trainer clothing options for all* the Pokemon.

Easy.

*Not actually all of them.

At most I could see Ash Greninja as being a special event Pokemon, which I think is what they did with Spiky Eared Pichu. Other than that it doesnt make sense to put it in the story as you'd need to have Ash appear, too. Which I guess isn't impossible but would be odd if you ask me.

@Meowpheel Perhaps it's limited to just the Kalos and Alola starters? Hmm....

At this point, I think we may just have to wait and see. Definitely won't be in tomorrow's news though.

I wonder what console the avatar will have this time. In XY and ORAS, you had a Wii U for example.

I think the MC had a WiiU in the trailer.

I don't want them to add new types of evolution, I want them to continue making Megas, at least until we have a Mega Mismagius and Delphox.

I am so hyped! I love that they showed us a Region map! I always find the new regions more intriguing than the Pokémon so this reveal was a win for me!

I'm not sure how I feel about the Rotom pokedex. Seems similar to Whisper from Yokai Watch.

Would've thought that sun legendary would be fire, but I like both of the typings, and the region looks cool, the mysterious new assistant could have links to the local bad team or have another sinister motive, and I love the new Pokédex with Rotom, really good idea.

Having to interact with the Pokedex is really good, because it gives incentive to use the thing more often.

The biggest news related to today's announcements is that Sun/Moon (and Go) are being shown off at Treehouse Live on June 15th and 16th.

Can't say I saw the Rotom Dex coming, but that's a really neat idea. Also, the legendaries are pretty disappointing. Both of them being Psychic and having fairly pedestrian abilities makes them less interesting.

@Grumblevolcano Finally a reason to watch E3. I mean I plan on getting Zelda but it's not a big enough reason to watch Nintendo's Treehouse Live all day

According to Serebii you will be able to scan QR codes in order to read a Pokemon's data so you know where to find it and share them with a friend so it's registered in your Pokedex.
