Hah... Gamefaqs is already trying to label the generation the worst yet because of no Battle Frontier and no Triple/Rotation battles, along with the large amount of "non-competitive" 'mons.
-The Battle Frontier hasn't been around for seven years and won't come back as long as Masuda is involved
-Triple and Rotation battles felt kinda superfluous in the games they were introduced- with the engine overhaul, it's quite probable that the OG3DS could not display six pokemon simultaneously and acceptably run the game
-Most people don't give a damn about Smogon

Nothing can top Black and White as the worst generation.
For you. To me Black and White have yet to be topped as the best generation. They were better RPGs than what came before and after. It's like comparing Fallout 4 to New Vegas or Skyrim to Morrowind. The latter of both examples focuses more on plot and RPG elements, and because of that they appeal to me more. The same goes for Black and White compared to say, RGBY or XY.
I guess if you're looking for something that's an easy going experience, then XY and Fallout 4 would be your thing compared to other entries. For me, what I'm looking for is only available in GSC/HGSS, Black and White, and New Vegas.

I don't think Pokemon's main focus is to be the best RPG out there, there are way better RPGs out there than any of the Pokemon games. Pokemon offers a unique experience, and Black & White was the worst. While there might have been more traditional mechanics of a RPG present in Black & White, it doesn't make the game better. Of course this is just an opinion but I feel whenever people bring Black & White up as the best in the series, they often describe it as an RPG when Pokemon has RPG like mechanics but is very different than most RPGs out there and fits better in a Adventure genre.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
I loved Black/White. It streamlined a lot (though a little too much in some areas) of things that needed to be streamlined, and the story was great. I thought the game had a good balance in difficulty.
X/Y on the other hand, is largely forgettable and bland in my opinion. The story was too convoluted and wasn't executed as well as B/W (though the anime did a pretty good job of it). ORAS was nice because it was a remake, but unfortunately it was also noticeably rushed.
@Tsurii@DefHalan Talonflame was just an obnoxious pokemon in general.
People hated it because priority brave bird did rip teams apart that didn't prepare for it (don't have a rotom, heatran, rhyperior, stealth rocks, or ampharos? Well now any bug, grass, fighting, or late game sweepers don't exist on your team.)
Basically, it was the one single mon that literally made teambuilding and just using your favorite pokemon completely impossible since the opponent pretty much won with it alone vs. what you're doing.
Its fine in competitive, but it ruined casual play more than mega rayquaza since X/Y. The nerf is harsh but I'll be very happy to try some new things and play pokemon I liked without a talonflame answer on every team I build. Rocks completely kill this thing but with an ability that drastic in shutting you down that's fair imo.
@IceClimbers Haven't seen much of the X/Y anime, but I feel like XYZ is slightly worse than the other XY seasons, partly due to Team Flare. (Speaking of Team Flare, the X and Y manga is ALL about them, which I am not a big fan of. Nothing can make Team Flare good (but Malva gets a more prominent role, so )
Anyone know if Horde Battles, Inverse Battles, and Sky Battles got removed from the game along with Triple/Rotation Battles? None of them got much use anyway...
Also, I am correct in saying that the Exp. Share is the Gen 6 version? (Why fix something that wasn't broken, Game Freak?!?! The Exp. Share was FINE in Gens 1-6!)
P.S. Looks like this is the new "most hated Gen" with the sucky Pokemon and removal of features. Hopefully Sun and Moon 2 or Kanto remakes do justice to the Pokemon series (for me, the high point was HG/SS and B2/W2). Not expecting Sinnoh remakes until Gen 8.
Also I will not mention any particular tracks to avoid spoilers, but the soundtracks for this game (it was ripped out) are pretty great. I hope like gen 6 we can choose battle music cause there is a lot of really good options.. none particularly catchy but in battle they really hype the feel of the game.

Well, triple and rotation battles were entire formats with uses, strategies and fans, just because the in-game stories didn't use them much, it doesn't mean they were useless.
Doubles are in a similar boat, imagine if they removed those.
@IceClimbers Well, it WAS like that with Hoenn. Personally, I enjoy my copy of Platinum, but the first third of the game is a SLOG. Worst part of any Pokemon game in my opinion. (Luckily, after that, the game gets much better ).

Double battles make much more sense than triple and rotation battles. But it's not like it matters anyway, because none of them are in the actual game.
