So theories are suggesting that the new region might be based off of Hawaii. If true, then I'm even more excited!

I don't know if this was brought up elsewhere on this post already (if so I missed it) but there was an item in XY that looked like a Tiki and was given to you by a man who mentions that he's from some far off region.

I agree, weird type combos are really cool. Hawlucha (flying/fighting) was one of my favorite Pokemon from gen 6 and I'd love to see more combinations that go against what you would expect. I personally want a fire/grass mix. Maybe a Mega Sunflora that's literally as hot as the sun.

While we're doing wild speculation, I've made a mockup of what the villainous team's battle music might sound like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hNqLbx9p8g

I haven't really based on it anything other than... that's what villainous battle themes have sounded a bit like in the past, but we don't really have much more to go on than that anyway. All the anniversary hype - especially around the older games - got me inspired to have a go at writing something in their musical vein. It made me imagine what it would be like working on a real Pokemon game...

On the same note, what do people think the villains in Moon and Sun might be like? Will they be straight-up bad guys like Team Rocket, or have slightly more nuance to their motives as in the later games? I should probably also clarify that I don't actually think the team will be called Team Scrumptious, and they'll probably have loftier ambitions than making everything in the world taste delicious.

@UNSOLUTEDSALT: If you played the GBA games like Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald then it might be easier for you to get back into the series with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. They are remakes of the earlier games and you would be at least somewhat familiar with the layout and the Pokemon. I also personally think that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are better games than X and Y. To answer your other question, I think Sun and Moon will be pretty easy to get into. Most Pokemon games are as they want to make the series accessible to children.

Wild speculation, eh? Sure, I predict that the main character (you) have an NX in their bedroom.

I want to see an Electric/Poison type if only for the design aspect. Give it Levitate as an ability.

@Maxz: Most Pokemon villain teams just want to steal the legendary Pokemon for themselves. How about if the villain team is already in possession of the legendary 'Mon? Maybe something around the lines of that. Then kidnap the Pokemon champion or something. Something more dramatic than usual.
Or maybe your rival is secretly the leader of the evil group. OK, I'll stop now.
In all seriousness, I want a villain team with a cool name and awesome theme (haven't listened to your mockup as of now). And I don't want them to be "bad" bad. I want them to have an ulterior motive that gradually comes to light as you progress in the game.

God first.

@Vee_Flames: NO. NEVER AGAIN. They did that in X and Y, and because of it we didn't get to learn anything about Xerneas and Yveltal. No lore build up. No location world building. Nothing. All we got were some half-a**ed folk tales that weren't even as in depth as past generations.

I prefer the big build up formula where you and the team are searching for the legendary Pokemon. It gives a lot of exposition because the enemy team usually gives insight on the legendary Pokemon they're searching for each time you meet them, and then you get lore books or something in their base. X and Y were missing that so their legendary Pokemon felt like they were kind of... there. No backstory, no towns that idolized their guardian and oppressor and balance keeper. Nothing. If Sinnoh/Johto/Unova/ORAS's version of Hoenn ever did anything right, it was making the legendary Pokemon feel like an important part of the world, and showed how much these powerful un-tamable creatures could influence the cultures of their regions. Even R/B/Y gave more useful insight on Mew than X and Y did on their own mascots, and Mew wasn't even a main legendary Pokemon.

@Vee_Flames: It's an interesting idea, but as @BlatantlyHeroic has said, it kind of pulls one of the pillars from the story if villainous team and the legendary Pokemon are essentially one entity. Keeping them separate allows the legendary to stand tall in the story and its lore, and also provides a common goal for the player and the opposing team; putting them into a 'race' of sorts.

That said, it would be good to mix things up a little. One thing I'd like to see is more of a blurred line between the opposing team and the rest of the world, with their influence scattered about in subtle ways. I remember one of the most exciting things from RBGY was finding the Rocket Hideout concealed beneath Game Corner, which made a seemingly innocuous part of the world seem a whole lot more sinister. I found the 'pervasive mafia' idea more engaging than the 'goofy bad guys in silly suits' concept that became prevalent in later games, and the lack of subtly in some modern teams has kept them from feeling genuinely menacing or unpredictable. It'd be cool to see the world change as you chipped away at the team's stranglehold and exposed the corruption it had sewn.

Here's my go at the villainous battle theme again for anyone who missed it. I'd appreciate some feedback if possible.

I want a new evolutionary stone that allows unevolved Level 100 Pokémon that ordinarily evolve via Level Up to evolve. They will still need to meet all necessary requirements for evolution under normal circumstances for the stone to be usable, such as in-game location, knowing a specific move, time of day, maximum happiness etc.

Such an item will ensure that any new evolutions of past Pokémon will still be able to evolve if transferred from a previous game.

@sillygostly Such as...oh I don't know, level 100 Pokemon obtained through a glitch in Pokemon R/B/Y?

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

@Detective_TeeJay : I have no intention of utilising any glitches in R/B/Y (I'm sure GF will have checks in place to prevent certain glitched or cheat Pokémon from being transferred into the newer games), I just think that it will be a useful item in the event that a person has trained a Pokémon to Level 100 only for there to be a new evolution revealed later on, or to allow people who otherwise regret not evolving their Pokémon earlier to have the opportunity to do so.

I doubt I'd ever use such an item. In fact, there are many items that I never use (cough berries cough) but I'm not saying that they shouldn't exist either.

I'm not a competitive player by any stretch, but I would never consider Rare Candying my Pokémon, if that is what you mean.

@IceClimbers: That would at least be less broken than the Tynamo line, which has zero weaknesses, which I think should not be a thing for any Pokémon. At least Electric/Poison is still weak to Psychic.

What are you talking about? The Tynamo line has a weakness it's called Mold Breaker, Gravity, and Smack Down.

I'm just hoping that the leader of the new evil team is the champion. In Gen 1 we had Giovanni be the 8th gym leader and Blue became the Champion. Why can't we have another plot twist like that?

No weaknesses =/= broken. It's annoying not having that x2 boost, but it's not going to kill you. The Tynamo line makes up for it by having a pathetic speed stat, so anything that can hit hard enough can defeat them easily.

To be fair, those are fairly advanced strategies.

@Bolt_Strike fair enough, but in normal gameplay they won't present a problem using 1X time effective moves. The no weakness thing really only becomes annoying in competitive, which is why I mentioned the weaknesses above.

But yes, Electric/Poison would be an interesting idea (Maybe the design could be visual representation of a computer virus?)
