My theory is that the Pokemon got generated along with the wall of bricks, but since they were outside of the playfield when slowbro mega evolved, they did not change as normal.
It seems that when a Pokemon mega evolves, the game only looks for the tokens currently in view to change them and then replaces the pokemon with its mega evolution in the list of Pokemon-to-generate.
It does not seem to take into account the tokens that already exist, but are not currently in play.
Yet it's weird that we never encounter this happening on any other stage. I wound up using Altaria instead of Slowbro just so I could blast away all the unevolved ones with it.
Mega Tyranitar or Mega Steelix are the best bets for the Mountain stages.
Mind you, anything goes if Megadactyl is the boss of a toyshop, and Megatwo is the boss of a Jungle.
Could be Megachomp or Megagross, if their families are introduced.
Could even be MegaSwamp! : )
On a serious note, the Hoenn/Kanto Megas are probably going to be competitions for the next coupla months. I really hope they don't narrow it down any further in the EU. 10,000 is low enough.
I use Megacario, Scizor and Articuno, as it covers all bases, but when I catch Cherrim, I'll probably drop Articuno for Heracross. I only have a few remaining Ex Stages (Xerneas, Blaziken, Mewtwo) and 15 stages to S-Rank now! : )
But then that includes Onix and Timburr, two of the most annoying pests in a long while. At least Onix has a decent catch rate with 0 moves left. Timburr... eh... not so much. : (
And I'm gonna hedge my bets on Mega-Tyranitar to be the boss of the next set of stages, with Mega Charizard X (They seem to hate Y version...) as the next compo mega.
I have been going in with Mega Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur. I should probably mix it up more lol. I was expecting these pokemon to be much easier to catch given the randomization. Out of the 5 hearts I used I only saw 3 pokemon and caught 2 of them.
Sharpedo (Caught)
Spinda (Caught)
Carvanha
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
I use Mega Gengar, Banette, Xerneas and have been getting ridiculous combos. Haven't encountered Sharpedo, but I already have the other four. Once I see Sharpedo's stage I'll likely change my Pokemon.
A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.
Yeah, but I think getting long combos is far more important than ensuring you have a super effective type in tow. I've beaten the 5 move levels in 1 move a couple of times, and the 12 move one in two moves twice.
According to Serebii, there are 5 Safari Pokémon: Carvanha (Dark), Sharpedo (Dark), Spinda (Normal), Cherubi (Grass), and Cherrim (Grass). I suggest using all Bug types (preferably Scyther, Scizor, and Heracross), as 4 of the 5 are weak to Bug, while the 5th one is the easiest stage of the 5.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I agree! I am using Ampharos as my mega, and have Scyther and Heracross both with 76 damage. I have only caught Spinda so far as I figured this all out this morning. Came close with Cherubi yesterday though.
