So, I got my first nintendo prepaid card c/o boyfriend for a Christmas gift.
The card is said to be valid only for the United States. My region setting is in Canada since my friend who can purchase online content through her credit card advised me to be in Canada. So anyways, can the card points/value be topped up in my account or is this card cursed into oblivion?
Please help. I'm really depressed trying to find a solution.
If you registered a NNID then yes there's nothing you can do, unless you are willing to lose all downloads you have on the system.... if you haven't registered a NNID you can change your region to U.S. and use the card and buy somethign with it in the U.S. Eshop... You'll have to be careful not to register a NNID so you can switch back to Canada and cotinue buying through credit card after you are done with the U.S. eshop
Actually I got an NNID already. I'm not sure how to go about it.
I've looked into the removal of my NNID but I don't know what I can lose should I delete my NNID. I haven't had any other downloaded content asides from the demos, youtube and swapnotes.
that's weird, if your system is Asian it should not be able to be set to Canada so if its set to Canada you should be able to change your NNID, if you have not purchased anything with your Canadian ID that you would mind your NNID you can format the system and change to U.S. then change to Canada again
I'm really new to the system format though but I haven't had any purchases for my Canadian ID. I've only been buying cartridges for my games so online content is really something overwhelming for me, asides from the Demos of course.
I am so utterly confused by this thread... I'm assuming you mean you have a Japanese 3DS...? So... no matter what your region is the card won't work...
Yeah, pretty sure it goes off of the systems region of origin not your Mii's region. Meaning that Asia region systems will only work with games, cards, eshop from the Asian region and NA region systems will only work with NA just like European will only work with European stuff.
In other words the NA card you got wont work you are going to have to stick with Asian point cards for your system. If you haven't use the card already you can either give it back or maybe find someone who's willing to trade a NA eshop card for an Asian one.

It's all right. The information helped. I'm having a friend whose going to try and buy some JPN points for me, so he'll be buying my US card. I'm pretty scared at how to handle this because I honestly am a noob and the region thing is constricting me. Sorry and thank you once again for the help.

So true.
Edit: Make sure a system isn't region locked before importing. It helps a lot.
