Great to read peep’s stories, regarding their progress. The game takes me back to much simpler footie management games, but with Nintendo’s customary polish.
I’ve been dealt a bit of a duff set of players with little or not tech ability. So i’ve had to compress the play “Big Sam” stylee. Pre season worked well and I’ve a set up a decent tactic to fit. I also have a plan B if things go pete tong during the match unlike wenger / moyes
I’ve unlocked a few combo cards. The one saying grace in my team, is my goalie. He’s like Schumacher / Schmeichel rolled into one. Great at shot stopping and great at clearing the box from set pieces. “Look out frenchies, I don’t fancy your dentist bills” . I’m beefing him up in training at every opportunity. I hope no big clubs come swooping in for him.
I’ve a few questions for chaps who have put some hours into the games.
If you play a player out of position for a while does he change into that type?
say, move a fast winger from midfield to attack. ala Thierry Henry?
When do your players change from balanced to the other types, say worker?
Who is the captain and can you set one?
Thanks in advance.

@WYLD-WOO ill add you back (have to delete someone else first.
thx for the list even though i will have problems finding the right cards, because i have the german version.
@kalipso3 i got one card from that match. so basically nothing.
@kalipso3, @WYLD-WOO Great combo lists. I’ve had a quick look at them, but I think half the fun is discovering them for myself. Plus, I have a terrible memory, so by the time I get to my 3DS from my laptop I’ll have forgotten them. But they are an excellent reference resource if me/anybody gets stuck and needs a helping hand. Kudos to you both.
I can’t wait to get online, but I think I need at least a season with my squad, to understand all their strengths / weaknesses.
One more question.
Does the game have a finite number of seasons or can you play for ever?

Had a quick mooch round the tubes. Read the Iwata asks article. V interesting, seems that the guy who made the game is ex-HAL labs and it took him 6 years to make. Blimey.

NO you can change a player from say midfield to attack in the screen where you also recruit/fire players etc (in the office). You seem to be able to do this as often as you like

This depends on the levels of their attributes - so as you train them with the cards they change but can then also change back
Who is the captain and can you set one?
shrugs I duuno

i think a player can play a maximum of 5 seasons for you. there needs to be such a limit of course. otherwise the online mode would be totally imbalanced and boring.
Added you back, @Sinister and @6ch6ris6 ! I've had around 9 games now and it's very very addiciting. I have to say I'm having a little trouble with getting the training right, the potential is compareable to efficiency or something? I want to find out the combinations by myself, even though I thank you for the list, but I don't really get why some cards show a much bigger progress than others. I understand it's wise to try and combine cards for a higher yield?
alright this game is cute and everything but it's really unbalanced. I won every game in the Beginner League, I built a much better team thanks to the market and now that I'm in the Advanced League I'm losing every single match. If that's the trend, a few more matches and I'll get sacked.
Don't understand why the Beginner League was so short and easy - it doesn't give you enough time to build up and train a proper team for the Advanced League.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...
That sucks.. Though I don't think you'll be sacked that fast, will you? I had more trouble in my beginner league, I guess I'll take it easy and stay in the third division for 2 seasons. I'm still having fun though, are you all?
EDIT: I want shopping in the friend market, got three new players! thanks y'all!

Perhaps you've done a Burnley / QPR where your tactics /squad work in one league, but fail to translate to a higher division. They might be a hidden stat like morale, where a bad start to the campaign can't be recovered. I believe your rating can go down to 3% before you get the hook.
I'm sure if Pulis can turn a team around, you can.

just finishing a few more friendlies and then it is time to enter the new league. i had troubles in the first two games of the beginner league but then i won almost every match. still don't really get the hang of training cards but all my players made some huge developments.
The tool I linked in my previous post got updated, it now shows 98 combos!
I still don't understand the potential bar, whether it means how "far" a player can grow or how much it has already "grown", meaning the empty part of the bar is what is left for him to grow. Confused. Very.
