It's Mono sound on speaker, so I highly recommend using headphones with it to get Stereo. Or buy a regular 3DS if you're not that budget constrained for just more 40 euros/dollars. If you care enough about sound quality to ask this question, I'd say the 2DS is not for you.
I don't agree with Samaurai. The3DS XL doesn't have that great sound either. The original 3DS actually has the best speakers of the three but I always used headphones regardless. So if you don't mind headphones, you'll be fine with the 2DS

Who was talking about XL? When I say regular 3DS, I mean the original 3DS model. Still better value at €170 than €200 for XL with NO charger. Btw, can I just rant a bit about how stupid it is to sell a console with NO charger?

Mine came with a charger

"An AC adapter is not included with the Nintendo 3DS XL. The Nintendo 3DS XL requires a Nintendo 3DS AC adapter which is sold separately."
Is this just another example of Nintendo's contempt for Europe sort of thing?

If I recall correctly, Japan does not have chargers included as well and are sold separately. I could be wrong though.

Now thats interesting because the EU is usually the otherway with these sort of things. Good example is the Asus Transformer Infinity, in the states you can buy just the tablet and get the keyboard dock separate (its an extended battery and adds another USB and SD slot also) but in the EU you can only buy it as one whole unit.

All support headphones to the same volume I presume. Just get some amped headphones and you should be set, or a pair of external speakers(not to many people do that).
Well since 2DS has a single mono speaker whereas 3DS and 3DS XL have dual stereo speakers, sound quality will take a hit. But you can use headphones for 2DS for stereo.

I've bought four 3DS XLs and all game with a charger — just no cradle.
